THIS ROOT METHOD IS FOR LOCKED XT907 DEVICES THAT TOOK THE 07/13 UPDATES on System Version 98.18.78

The latest updates kill the ability to Root with Motochopper and also block the ability to unlock the bootloader with Motopocalypse.  With this, we can at least get Root restored.  Unlocking the bootloader is no longer an option.

This method does NOT erase data and that is not required for any part of the process.

Motochopper 1.1.2 for RAZR M is now available.  Download it here:

Hello,

I've tried to download this version of Motochopper by following the link in the post, but am getting a message that the link is no longer valid.  Is there an updated link, or a different way to get the file?  Thanks for any help you can provide.

Best regards,

DH

Downloaded the same ran the utility and it completed successfully in couple of minutes. As i am new to this now what do i do next ? I see a Super SU icon in which i clicked and it installed in normal mode. Noob question here how do i go about removing verizon bloatware and stuff i do not want. Also how does root access help ?

You're going to need an app like titanium backup which will allow you to either freeze or uninstall system apps. That app needs root to work. There are many root only apps out there that you can now use because you have root.  :)

The first thing I would do as a locked user, following initial root, is install Safestrap and do a full backup to restore to while you learn how to use Ti Backup. It's quite easy. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2

My sincere thanks for posting this root tool, it was easy and works perfectly. I'm not sure if this was posted, but I did have one issue I resolved... I did not see Superuser installed for some reason after root. I installed it from Google Play, but even with my Elite license it did not work. Instead I had to use SuperSU from Google Play. Pretty important, I don't want just any app using root access after all. Other than that, everything working great since I installed Titanium Backup and Greenify. I only wish I didn't install that update from Verizon, I would love to have Cyanogenmod on my phone again. Live and learn I guess. Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 2

If you were unlocked before the update you are still unlocked.

No, I was not unlocked before the update. I had Cyanogenmod on my last phone.

Now with Root I can use Titanium. Could I install the official Google Calendar app and convert that to a system app and the remove my stock calendar app. The official Google can do much more and I like it better. Can I also do the same for these apps?

You can indeed remove the stock calendar and just use Google calendar ..... the other two you have listed,,,, I'm not sure about those.... I would say, if they work then by all means yes you should be able to...... however, make a backup of the apps before you remove them just in case :)

Hello,

I successfully rooted my first razr M but the second is stuck in the AP fastboot flash mode (s). The .bat file simply got stuck and would not transfer anything.

How do I get the phone off the black screen?

_______

AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)

10.9B(*) (sha-1e9f557, 2013-05-29 13:50:43)

eMMC Info: Size 8GB

Device is LOCKED. Status Code:0

Battery OK

Connect USB

Data Cable

Fastboot Reason: Flash Failure

_____________

Please help me restore the phone into working order....rooted or unrooted.

Flash failure means you need to get something to flash successfully before you can continue...... where in the script (.bat file) did it "hang" and refuse to go forward?.... and what did you do when it stopped? :)

it stopped on Daemon started successfully. After 15minutes I closed the .bat

The first phone rooted in under 3 minutes.

The black phone is also not showing up in windows.

Typically if it goes no further than that it is a driver issue..... make sure you have the most current moto drivers installed .... and try running again..... if you need the latest drivers you can get them here

Once you install the drivers, the phone should be "seen" by the computer and able to flash...... since you are stuck in ap fastboot mode right now, you will not see the "normal" autoplay window(s) or the option to access the storage(s) on the computer .... that will come after successful flashing :)
