Awesome piece of work.  It ran just like you described.  I am a total newbie and it worked like a champ the first time!  My main reason for rooting my phone was to get rid of the preinstalled app AcousticWarning which automatically lowers the volume on both music and phone calls if you are using the headphone jack or bluetooth.  It's a Royal PITA!  I spent almost an hour on the phone with Verizon who transferred me to Motorola who admitted that they have had a lot of complaints about this app, but are not willing to do anything about it.  After rooting, I installed Titanium backup and froze AcousticWarning and a few other apps that I could give a diddly squat about.  This is my first smartphone and they are just as loaded up with crapware as any dell, hp, lenovo or whatever PC.  No wonder I never buy a PC, but just build my own.  Thanks again for a great piece of work!!!!!!!!!

So wait. We dont have to use RSD or flash that original large zip file that put us back to a previous version? On my locked 98.18.78 RAZR M I just run Motochopper 1.1.1 and it flashes me back and everything???

Isn't that what's in the OP?  Read, read again, and read one more time and all will be clear.

Is this only if we had root before or will this work even if we were unrooted before?

Doesn't matter if you had root before or not.

The OP had other steps and a walk through written. Where'd that go? We don't need to run the large .zip utility by you any longer? We just click the run.bat file in the Motochopper zip???

Correct.  Unzip the new motochopper, connect your phone, enable usb debugging, run the run.bat, and follow instructions.  It really can't get much simpler.

I am having a problem rooting my razr m 4 98.18.78.xt907. I downloaded motochopper 1.1.1 and ran run.bat and it did its thing. said successful at the end. when I go to superuser it says THERE IS NO SU BINARY INSTALLED, AND SUPERSU CANNOT INSTALL IT. THIS IS A PROBLEM. I type "su" into terminal emulator and all it says is "not found". I have ran it twice with the same result.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Did you have root installed before the update?  Kaos, I'm thinking we may need to write a script to allow people to re-flash their system partition before running this to remove any remnants of root.

For those having problems, you need to get the FXZ of your latest update and then flash the system partition with either fastboot (make sure it's the snapdragon version, NOT the platform tools version), boot into AP Fastboot mode, and do:

fastboot flash system system.img (or system.img.ext4 if that's the filename in your FXZ)

Then reboot and try motochopper again.

OP updated to include the system.img flash in the run.bat if the system.img or system.img.ext4 file is present in the motochopper directory.  I also updated the run.sh as well.

Sweet.  So what that means for people is if motochopper fails, try dropping your system img file from the latest update in the motochopper directory and running again.

Nonetheless, I'd grab the new version and throw the system img from the latest FXZ in there and let it re-flash the system partition as part of the process.

This might be a little off topic but I just recently rooted my razr m with Motochopper 1.1 and some how I got superuser and super su now on my phone. The interesting thing is I know that superuser was installed from the root files, so I figured I should use that one over supersu but super user keeps denying rootchecker and tells me I dont have proper root access but when I use supersu it does recognize rootchecker and tells me I do have proper root access. In simple terms what can I do to correct this? Can I just uninstall superuser and use supersu or visa versa? and if so what one should i do.

Also, do I am using titanium back up but do I need a TWRP recovery or CWM? which one should I use. Lastly, Is there a current utility out that will allow be to go back to stock if something were to go awry?  thanks in advanced for helping a newbee out. I am afraid of screwing something up.

So can I get rid of superuser just by installing it and shouldn't have any issues? any help on the other questions?

Just uninstall superuser.  Your other question assumes you're unlocked which I assume is not the case so it's a moot point.
