Tried that and the same result as before. On both the full and the radio only. Gonna go to VZW today and see what is going on perhaps get a new sim activated for the phone. wonder what would happen if I put in a sim from a working phone to see if it the sim or if that would screw up the phone or sim.

If you have another active sim to test, that would narrow down your options.

Hi, so I have been reading over all your posts and trying to follow the instructions and jargon, but as you can tell by my name I am completely new to this and would appreciate someone listing an easy step by step instructions on how to downgrade my razr m, take root and then re-apply the update. Any additional heads ups or problems I might run into and how you over came them would be appreciated. I have Motochopper and the Donwgrade file downloaded and ready to go. Thanks and I look forward to learning from all of you.

Use the motochopper 1.1 that is now in the op and it is very simple now. There is no true downgrade. Just follow the prompts. From My S4 Dev Edition

Used the motochopper 1.1 and everything seemed to work just fine but then I check with Rootchecker and it says that this device does not have proper root access. What do I do?

N00B question here- I just received my Razr M with the update already on it and have extracted the Motochopper 1.1. What do I do now? This is my first ever rooting attempt. I can't find any step by step instructions for it. Could someone please help? Thanks a lot.

Thanks for the help. I figured it out, the new Motochopper 1.1 was easy to use.  Anyone know what bloat ware that can be removed that wont effect the function of the phone, like the Verizon apps for example? When I try to remove some of the apps a pop up comes up and says that some apps are on the phone in packages and if you try to remove one of them it can effect the other ones. Is there a way around that?

THANKS SO MUCH GUYS!!  I'm a n00b when it comes to Driods and gained root on my Razr M so I could freeze apps and save battery, then the latest OTA update killed my root and Motoshopper 1.1 restored it.  I'm happy again.

Nobody? Remember everyone was a N00B at some point.... I've done a search online and in these forums but cannot find step by step instructions for the Motochopper 1.1, only for the old version of Motochopper which requires downgrading the update....I'm assuming these instructions would now be irrelevant? I would really appreciate some help. Thanks guys.

I'm seriously amazed.  People want to root their phone but don't know how to install a Moto USB driver, unzip a zip file, run a bat file, and follow instructions.  I don't mean to be insulting, but, if you need step by step instructions on how to unzip a file and run a bat file, perhaps rooting is not a good idea until you read more.

I was going to say the same thing, but you summed it up pretty well.  Plus, people get pissed off if us "common" people give a piece of our mind.  Mods/devs usually are pretty safe.  If you don't know the basics, read up, learn up, and come back.

I apologize for my ignorance, but I cannot find the Moto USB driver. Also I thought forums like this were to assist person with issues, look I need to find data on my phone that was lost and need to perform data recovery, otherwise I had no interest in rooting my phone.

So perhaps you might want to consider reading the post above your first one.  You know, the one where someone just answered where to find the moto driver?

THIS ROOT METHOD IS FOR LOCKED XT907 DEVICES THAT TOOK THE 07/13 UPDATES on System Version 98.18.78

The latest updates kill the ability to Root with Motochopper and also block the ability to unlock the bootloader with Motopocalypse.  With this, we can at least get Root restored.  Unlocking the bootloader is no longer an option.

This method does NOT erase data and that is not required for any part of the process.

Motochopper 1.1 for RAZR M is now available.  Download it here:

WARNING: This ONLY works for the XT907 on 98.18.78.  DO NOT use it on any other device or version!!

& the testers that helped get here.

Thanks for doing this. I'm running into some problems.

So, I've downloaded motochopper_1.1_RAZR_M.zip and performed the following steps on my Mac:

mkdir motochopper_1.1_RAZR_M/

cd motochopper_1.1_RAZR_M/

unzip ../motochopper_1.1_RAZR_M.zip

chmod a+x run.sh

./run.sh

(Note: this indicates I'm still running v1.0)

Press the Enter button to start and this is where I get errors:

chmod: ./adb.osx: No such file or directory
./run.sh: line 58: ./adb.osx: No such file or directory
[*] Waiting for device...
./run.sh: line 61: ./adb.osx: No such file or directory

./run.sh: line 80: ./adb.osx: No such file or directory
[*] Exploit complete. Press enter to reboot and exit.

There is no adb.osx file. Now, I do have an adb.osx file left over from ver 1.0. Can I just use that?
