Kuel.  It's not a terribly difficult change to make but you'll need to have fastboot and adb.

It was suggested that I use this link for the root and now I am faced with a phone that will not work and I can't get it back in normal mode, it's stuck on the black background/white text flash failure mode.

You just need to get something to flash correctly in fastboot

You seem to be missing a file....like the exploit.  Delete the directory and re-unzip it from the motochopper_1.1_razr_hd zip and run it again.

You don't provide nearly enough information.  What version were you on when you started this?  If you're getting a boot.img flash failed then your phone was not on the right version to run motochopper 1.1.  I was very clear about what version it works on for a reason.

Sorry, no, I'm not doing step by step.  I get that people are "newbies" and all that, but, if you're really that "new" then root is a dangerous thing to be playing with.  We're not talking about difficult things here.  You download and install the Moto USB driver.  You download and unzip the motochopper_1.1_razr_hd zip file.  You connect your phone.  You run the run.bat file and follow instructions.  This isn't difficult stuff here.  A step by step handholding for this stuff should NOT be necessary.

MR4 was a maintenance release that never made it passed testing. This phone was updated to it so it moved to .20 on the OTA instead of from .16(MR2) to .18. You cannot unlock the bootloader but you can root using the instructions in the OP

I tried the utility on my Moto Droid Razr Maxx HD  (ver 9.18.79.xt926.Verizon.en.US) and it "seemed" like it worked.  It finished the batch file and rebooted the phone but RootChecker informs me that I dont have "proper root access"

I thought I would post the info from the command line just in case you might find it useful.  Thanks for all your efforts.

Reboot the phone and try it again.  Seems like your phone lost its mind in the middle of the process.

rebooted my phone twice just to be safe, and then run the batch file again.  Same results.  There was an extra error message this time because the superuser.apk already existed but other than that it looks identical.  Still losses connection to device a couple of times in the middle of the process but then it seems to take back off and finish up the exploit.

I dont think I have anything running that would interfere with the process but then again what do I know.  If there is any info that would be helpful just let me know.

Thanks!
