redflea, thanks for that detailed info. I truly appreciate the insight you just gave me in to the dev of this kernal. I saw that others were using that other kernel, but I would rather go with whats here. Thanks!

well thank god, I made a back up. Sure enough, I put in my fat32 16gb card and FINALLY clockwork was able to recognize the darn card. Looks like Clockwork also does not like the exFAT format. Went to 'Install ZIP from External...' Saw all of my folders, found the only file outside of the folders, which was the kernel. Installed it, rebooted, and noticed that the system recognized my 16gb card with no issues. Read 14.some odd number used and .88 free. Waited, nothing happened. happy. Shut down, put my Sandisk 64gb uhs1 card, got a message on the notification bar 'Safe to remove SD card' :| Went into settings-->more-->storage-->mount card and it said was checking for errors but quickly told me 'Safe to remove SD card' and that should keep an idiot busy for a bit. went into clockwork and format the cache, as that had helped before with other system issues, but no go. I would be surprised if everyone has a FAT32 card. I transfer such big files that I would feel lost as to how to transfer files at times. as it was I had to transfer a 5+gb backup file, so FAT32 wouldnt work for me. :| looks like im stuck.

so just went nuts and thought, what if I keep trying to mount it 'Detection Information: The device has detected an application attempting unpermitted actions. To protect your device, it is recommended you reboot' :\

I froze anything with the word "knox" in it to stop that notification

gatesjunior - adding some of this kernel format info to the OP will probably help reduce confusion and thread clogging w/repeated SD format questions.   :)

Or releaasing a kernel that supports it soon :-)

Followed instructions and this seems to have worked flawlessly. Restoring apps and data now. Thanks to all for the good work! Edit: error message in notification panel keeps pooping up saying detection info.an app is requiring permission that may damage device. Reboot required for protection. Rebooted several times to no avail. Tried fixing permissions. Did not work.

4.3 Rooted!!

Use Titanium Backup to freeze Knox apps (can't remember if there is more than one) in system.

Knox is just a security thing Samsung/Verizon has implemented.

Posted this also in the xda thread also, but there seems to be an issue with the kernel. Not a big one, but an issue nonetheless.

This happened when my phone actually died, but can be replicated by doing the following on Darkslide kernel.

Shut phone off, plug phone in.

The battery icon hangs up and you can not power up your phone unless you do a battery pull.

Just throwing it out there for the great devs who brought us this bad boy.

That is actually common on a AOSP kernel ,with Sammy devices. If Gates don't mind I can look at the kernel and check it out. If Gates is cool with it send me the boot.img.

As long as he doesn't mind. I'd like to wait for permission as I don't want to make any waves
