Someone asked over at xda how did I do this and they have been struggling with this for quite a while and could not get everything working. BTW, there have been many others in the same situation, so this guy was not alone. So here is the response I posted and wanted to share it with all of you..
I absolutely do not mind sharing with you all.. Here is the thing to always remember.. The android base itself is a base standard all devices use. I know this because I have built many roms from the source up, right, AOSP. So with that knowledge and being armed with it, the difference is what ? Obviously the hardware. So, you pull all the necessary vendor files and associated libs, etc.. to support it. Well for us, that was easy, someone installs the OTA and we get the pull from it. Now what ? Well, we know the kernel is the biggest issue. The other thing I know from building from source is that the modules or .ko files go along with that kernel. So logic dictates this. Keep the existing kernel installed and copy the VRUAMDK module files, or .ko files and magic happens That is the secret. You cannot mix modules / ko files most of the time from one kernel to the other, especially with major changes or mods induced.. The other thing to keep in mind is they also add additional modules at times, like in the latest OTA that were not meant for the older kernel... Now, could there be some newer modules in the latest OTA that would still work with the older one ? Sure, but not knowing everything they have done and where, to me it was not worth the risk..
So there you all have it. Peace...

The old method (changing the entitlement check) has been patched by Verizon in this update. I read that foxfi will still work, though.

Tethering Widget in the market, has been confirmed to work.
Evidently if you see the tethering service warning screen, it doesn't mean you can't use it - someone posted:
"All you have to do is hit your home button problem fixed."

Does this work on the Dev Edition, i.e., WIFI? The Dev Edition has a different baseband if the retail version was Loki'd on the original MDK build. I seem to remember the ROM's made for Gal S4 did not work on the Dev Edition for WIFI because of baseband. Scott of CleanROM fame created a module zip so taht the ROMS for Dev Edition would function. From what I remember, Synergy was the only ROM where his modified module zip didn't work for wifi differences.
For folks who need it, here it is: http://forum.xda-dev...48&d=1373084364
I get my Dev Edition on Monday so I will test it as well.
