Hi, just got my phone upgraded to the official OTA - everything up to this point has been stock stock stock.

I am really considering trying out something that is closer to AOSP but most of the AOSP based roms I've found seem to have issue with either keeping 4G connectivity or having proper camera and hardware acceleration functionality. It seems that this ROM doesn't have theses issues - I just wanted to confirm.

Basically,
1. Can I flash this ROM given that I am coming from stock OTA ICS.
2. Are there any issues with data connectivity and the camera/hardware acceleration.

Thanks

Yes, you can flash this rom over the OTA using Safestrap.

Also, this rom does have some data issues, as do all AOSP roms on the razr. Some have issues, others don't. If you do, you can toggle GSM, then the LTE/CDMA/GSM/WCDMA or whatever it isCamera and hardware acceleration work fine

I'm a little confused as to how the data issues occur. Is it that data doesn't turn on on boot, and I have to toggle GSM, then LTE/CDMA? After doing this, does the data still spontaneously drop on this ROM throughout the day?

Are there any other issues I should be aware of, other than webtop not working?

No, data on boot works. Its just that sometimes the data will drop, but you'll still have signal and can text and make calls. It might not happen to you, or you might get it a lot. It just depends. There are people with data drops on the stock rom. I suggest you try the rom and see for yourself. I'm sure you'll really like it.

As for issues, its really only HDMI and Webtop.

I think that I will try it out. My texting is actually based on google voice which uses data. Hopefully it won't be too bad.

It's a pretty solid ROM, man! I rarely have data issues with and a quick reboot solves that problem.

Give it a shot, I've never had data issues on this ROM and I've been running it for a couple weeks

I use Google Voice myself. I hate it, but hey, saves me $30 for unlimited messaging

Brad, does the native dialer work properly with GV e.g. does the VM integration work and does the recent dialed list show actual numbers dialed and not GV routed numbers like it does in the stock motoblur dialer?

it works fine with Google Voice. The numbers dialed are the ones shown and it routes calls fine. I have Google voice setup to call all numbers with my GV number and then I have an app called Voice Choice setup with the numbers I don't want to call with my GV number. It decides automatically for me

I haven't had any data drop issues (knock on wood). The only issue I have seen with this ROM (and KOA AOKP) was that if I have LTE switched off and turn it on, I will need to toggle airplane mode before I can get 4G. It just sits on 3G until I do that.

Well, I've flashed the ROM - it's wonderful.

Literally everything that I didn't like in stock motoblur is fixed.

I guess I must be lucky because I don't seem to have any data issues ... for now.

Hicks, you've mentioned that once Motorola releases the ICS source, things will be a whole lot better. Are you saying that the screen crop/resolution issue and the data connectivity problems some people are experiencing could potentially be fixed? Does Motorola always release sources and is there some timeframe from past experience?

Thanks for making this - ICS is perfect in this form. Will keep as my daily.

I can't use my own wallpaper. It won't let me change it to mine. How can this be, please advice!

Im saying a lot of stuff will be fixed when Moto releases the source. Probably everything. But no, no time frame.

I don't know; it works fine for me. It's possible that when you downloaded the ROM something didn't get downloaded, or some things not flashed by the ROM were corrupted or not correctly updated during the OTA to ICS (for example if you're running a .79 base you will still have battery reporting problems, screen turning on after you press the power button and turn it off, among other bugs, or some remaint of GB could be causing that issue). I would try either fastbooting or waiting for the ICS Fastboot files to be leaked.

The only "problems" that I've had with this ROM is that after flashing you need to switch the data to everything on. When you flash the ROM it is set to GSM only (to get data up). It's a lot more reliable now though, especially since ICS Official came out and as the CM9 builds are improved upon. The other thing I don't like is that there is no "sleep" in the power menu (Motorola puts that in themselves), but a minor sacrafice for all the other options offered in this ROM. Had no data issues on KOA (and I always had problems before on ICS Leaks, GB and other ROMs), so I'm very satisfied with this ROM.

I'd have to say KOA is the most stable ROM I've ever tried, and is probably the easiest to setup again after re-flashing because of Apex Launcher (which you can backup and restore settings in). You also can use the Trebuchet launcher if you choose. Going through the setup even has the applications download automatically via Google Play. In my opinion, KOA offers the best ICS Experience, and the best experience on a Razr in general. In addition, the battery life is strong in this one.

Great ROM, but I'm having a slight problem that doesn't seem to be discussed here. Twice in the past day I've tried to wake up my phone and the screen was just black, no response. I had to do a hard shutdown and restart. Any thoughts on what could cause this? Prior to this I was running the .75 leak and .211 leaks without this issue. The only changes I've made are installing safestrap and Koa.
