Next time you go to flash a ROM, pull the /tmp/recovery.log afterwards. Then if you have issues trying to boot it, email it to me: hashcode0f@gmail.com

That log should show any flashing errors.

Captain Hashcode,

Maybe you can help me with this one...

  • Not Able to Flash any Updates or New Versions of CM
  • After I download...choose Update then it...
  • Goes thru the Red Logo than boots back to Safestrap instead of Installing the Update...
  • What did I do wrong...

Thanks

@hashcode I am currently running bmm with PAC 4.3 on my stock partition and I was wondering if it is possible to just uninstall bmm and install ss3.51 without retoring my stock system and just doing it from PAC? It should be possible right?

So where it says that it won't work with older ROM's, does that mean all Blur based ones? I love the CM based ROMs, but I need the stability and functionality of Blur

I read that as Flashing the Stock ROM slot, but I just tried flashing 2 Blur based ROMs (Breakneck Blur & Aviator) into a newly created slot and they both failed.

Aviator's CM10.1 & AOKP ROM flashed to newly created slots OK.

When flashing the Blur ROMs TWRP says:

<trimmed standard message>
* Wiping System...
set_perm: some changes failed
E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard-ext/<blur rom zip>'
Error flashing zip '/sdcard-ext/<blur rom zip>'
Updating partition details...

Here's a link to another person who also had this issue with a screen shot in Recovery.

EDIT: Now the reinstall of the AOKP ROM is failing with the same "set_perm: some changes failed" errors. Deleted and re-created the slot. Worked fine earlier this morning . . .

Hello all. I tried to flash a backup of cm10.2 09/15 nightly yesterday on the stock slot and ended up having to restore my phone using matts utility and then reflash to cricket wireless (fun fun). I would like to know what I did incorrectly or if it is a bug with ss 3.53.

I made a backup of slot2 (cm10.2)

Formatted data, system, cache, dalvek, and Android secure partition on stock slot.

I then did a restore with the backup I made.

After I rebooted and after the Motorola (in my case jbx) flash screen ss is gone and no boot.

I am wondering if ss doesn't like backups on the stock slot or if I shouldn't have formatted android secure? I am not sure why ss would have disappeared on me either.

Thanks for any response. And thanks for hashcode for ss! Been using it for quite some time now.

You cannot restore a backup from another slot to the stock slot. You can, however, install CM10.2 to your stock slot, boot into it and skip activation, install safestrap, then restore your backed up data partition. I've done this just to test. You will have to use Matt's utility if you ever want to return. No stock blur backup will restore to the stock slot after installing CM there. CM backups of the stock slot restore fine.

Thank you for letting me know! I think I will wait until some rc builds for cm10.2 on stock. Anyone know if there is a way to restore to stock without overwriting the radios so I wouldn't have to reflash to cricket?

I don't have the link handy, but go to Hascodes website home page and then click on the RAZR. You'll be directed to his goo.im page and see a safestrap folder with 3.60 in it. I believe that's the latest.

I tried to upgrade from 3.11 to 3.60.  When I extract the Zip I don't see an apk.  What am I missing?  I have tried it different ways and still don't see it.

That's how I did it but I can't upgrade to 3.60 without an apk to install from. There is a zip file and once I extract there are the other files and then another zip that say it's install files but no apk.

I'm not sure exactly what Zip you're talking about or where you got it from but apk's are a form of zip files so it might be that you just need to change the .zip extension to .apk. it will give you a warning and I except it. in my experience if it doesn't work out I could just rename it back to what it was before I changed it and it would be as though I never changed it
