You can't root jb yet, and your have to download jb update and manually install it as it won't show on phone because update was pulled. Use maths utility 1.82 option 1 to put you on stock ICS 211, than use the utility to root ICS and download voodoo ota root keeper from play store, and protect root than delegate protected copy and than protect root again. Make sure su is up to days on the binary. Its in su settings clock check for binary update and update it(crucial). Temp umroot from voodoo, reboot into stock recovery and flash the job update you downloaded. There are lots of guides in forums for this. I'm driving and using a phone to write this or it'd be Kore detailed

Even simpler is to stay on ICS and use the dual kernel utility :D

That's why I have links in the other thread to my Google drive. I have SS2.11 and 3.11 back ups. Download whichever one you need. You'll need to install a custom ROM after switching to safe side. When you flash it will make a backup of nothing really BC nothing is there. Then you install the custom ROM. Go into it and copy the files you downloaded to your internal storage and SD card. Restart to SS and disable safe system and my backup will now be on your phone. Perform a factory reset and you'll be back to stock.

EDIT: Just thought of something. I need to reset my phone and then do the backups because I may have personal info on my backed up ROM's. So I have un-shared the links in my Google drive for the time being and will reshare when I get the stock without personal info. SORRY!!!!!

Good news, I think!

I looked in the internal memory of my MAXX and in the safestrap directory/backup I have an archive called "system.ext3.tar" which I assume is the original pre-ICS OS that the phone came with before
I rooted it!

So do I just need to install SS 2.11 and then restore this image?

Please help, I don't want to brick my phone, although maybe if I do Verizon will give me a new MAXX HD, which is what I want anyway, lol!

Thanks!

No offense. But it seems to me like you need to go back and read from the OP(original post) at the start of the thread.

Not assure if anybody else noticed this or not but I no longer see my battery percentage while in recovery.
Is charging while in recovery still supported?

Yeah, I've noticed it missing too. Strictly a guess here but my thoughts are that Hashcode probably got a lot of inquiries as to why it read different in safestrap then it did while booted to a rom. There's a few of those posts in this thread already from what I remember. This way he doesn't have to deal with the question over and over. All this is a guess, mind you. That's the only reason I can think of. If it's the reason why, can't say I blame him. I'm guessing it probably still charges in recovery although I haven't tried it to find out. Easy enough for you to do though. Check your battery level, boot to safestrap and let it sit there plugged in for a half hour and see if the battery is charged more when you boot back to your rom. :)
