SAFESTRAP v3.05 BETA (2nd-System Bootstrap / Recovery)

PRIOR TO UPGRADING TO V3.x FROM V2.x MOVE THE /sdcard/safestrap FOLDER FROM YOUR /sdcard TO THE /sdcard-ext. THIS OPENS UP VALUABLE INTERNAL EMMC SPACE WHERE ROM SLOTS ARE CREATED. AND KEEPS YOUR V2 BACKUPS SAFE IN CASE YOU WANT TO REVERT TO V2 AND USE THEM TO RESTORE.

** INSERT STANDARD DISCLAIMER: I'm not responsible for any damage you do to your phone using my tools. Always have a fastboot available for disaster recovery. **

[ DOUBLE-CHECK you have the BIONIC/RAZR/DROID4 VERSION ]

CHANGES:
  • [10/17] (3.05) Fixed SD card / emmc sharing in recovery (UMS)
  • [10/17] (3.05) Fixed recovery installation/removal from ROM-slots
  • [10/14] Updated to v3.04 BETA.
  • [10/14] Recovery is now based off TWRP 2.2.2.1 (fully featured touch-based recovery)
  • [10/14] Can create up to 4 Virtual ROM-slots to flash ROMs to and when "Active" ALL TWRP functions affect that ROM-slot (For example: Flashing .zips, Backup and Restore)
  • [10/14] Nearly instant swapping from ROM to ROM
  • [10/14] User selectable data partition sizes during ROM slot creation: 1GB, 2GB or 3GB
  • [10/14] ROM slots are saved on the internal emmc space so that preinstall and webtop partitions are no longer used and shouldn't break OTAs.
  • [10/14] Charging in recovery
  • [10/14] Supports "Reboot Recovery" from Android OS
Entry to recovery via Splashscreen on boot-up. The screen stays up for around 8-10 seconds and if you hit the menu button, it takes you to Safestrap Recovery.

KNOWN ISSUES:
  • Stock flashing is currently disabled. This will be turned on in the next update or so.
SPECIAL THANKS TO:

  • The entire TWRP team who has built an AMAZING recovery system.
  • The testers which have helped in past and present versions of Safestrap, knowing that it could mean they brick their devices.
[ SCREENSHOTS COMING SOON ]

As always, let me know what you think!

Why do you recommend this? It bricked my phone!

After I had Arctic 1.0 installed an working perfectly, this new boot loader blew my phone up.

Any ideas how to get back, I am stuck in the original MOT Rom with the red orb, it won't load beyond that point.

I don't have an answer, but I created a Slot in SS3 and installed Eclipse 1.3 (CDMA for RAZR) then rebooted - nothing. Black screen for several minutes and then I reset the device. I cleared caches and tried again with the same outcome. Maybe another ROM would work or maybe this can't be done. At least I didn't brick! Again, if anyone has a solution I really need a Gingerbread instance available. Thanks again.

were you running an older version of ss when you installed 3.05,need more info on what you did or where you came from

I created a 1 GB partition ROM-Slot-1 but have no idea, other than creating the name "arctic" for it, how to install your new Arctic 1.0 ROM into the slot, a little help would be very much appreciated!

Why are you calling it old, it came out about two days ago on 12/4/12 I believe. I installed the original ROM version .10, and then this update came out, it was all working fine until I upgraded the bootloader to 3.05, that is what caused all the issues, I just installed the ROM to the first slot, am waiting now to see if it takes and boots.

If there is a newer ROM that you want me to install, tell me how to load it into my ICS now 4.04 Razr MAXX and I'll gladly do it, by the way, it just booted, so at least that crisis has passed, lol.

Thanks,

Gary

After you created the ROM slot you should have activated the slot, and then you need to go to install and flash the ROM.

Yes, I have it working perfectly now, thanks and sorry for getting panicky!

Anyway, I would appreciate your input on the latest and greatest ROM for the Droid Razr MAXX now at ICS 4.0.4 and ready to go!

My best wishes and thanks,

Gary

Went to install this last night anxious to have two or three roms on my phone that I could just swap back and forth. Don't know where I went wrong, but I ended up stuck in a boot loop on the non safe side after removing SS ver2.1. After fastbooting back with Matt's utility I started from scratch. This is awesome! Thanks for the hard work. Only have one rom loaded so far. Ran out of time last night, so today it's Flick 5.0 for me.
Sent from my Droid Razr Maxx running a different ROM nearly every day.

Here's my history: Verizon DROID RAZR Maxx running stock ICS 4.0.4 / .211. I rooted and installed Safestrap 3.05 (no earlier version or alternative loaders), saved stock, installed some ICS ROMs.No I need to get any variant of Gingerbread installed in a slot to run Wikilin properly. Can I do this from my current platform and if so, can someone point me to a ROM to flash? Thanks!

That's some sh*t news... Thank you for answering. I guess I'll continue to carry another device running GB.

[Edit] Unless... Is there any way I can back out and make this happen?
