So im trying to understand ss3 is designed so that I could have 2 roms installed at the same time and just switch between them?

You could have up to 4 ROMs installed.

Rockin' it with my Maxx, iKream and T-Talk

SS 3 allows up to 5 ROMs, not 4 lol.
1 in the stock slot and 4 builds on the SD. :)

So I am on Arctic HD do I have to reset phone back to stock before installing SS3.05 or will the stock ROM be Arctic then new slot 1 would be a different ROM !!!

CArl

BTW I was also on AHD's cousin Droid HD as my main ROM. I uninstalled the bmm hi jack. Uninstalled boot menu manager app, installed SS 3.05
I went into the new recovery backed up my unsafe (DHD) and 1 on to install 4 different jelly beans.
The bottom line is you do not have to be on a stock moto blur prior to installing 3.05 there is absolutely no need to fast boot SBF

Ok, so I know we would love to partition out our external SD cards to rock some serious ROM building, but it wouldn't work in he long run. In light of this, is there anyone who might know how to change the default location for downloads so they (ROMs, movies, mp3s, PDFs, etc) go to the ext SD card instead of a ROM-loaded internal SD?

If you boot into stock.... yes safe system wont be activated.... once you create a rom slot and install a rom.... he will be green and safe system will be activated.....

To further clarify, safe system will be activated (automatically) once you activate a ROM slot. The Safestrap splash screen will be markedly different when Safesystem is activated. I'm not sure about the color, but the little robot guy has tendrils around him when safestrap is running an activated safe side ROM.

no they need to stay on external sd card..... when you go to install the rom... the "file Explorer" opens up by default to internal sdcard (at least on mine it does)....you need to navigate to external and you should then see the ROM zip files....

Not too new to flashing, but certainly not an expert, and really don't understand SS3.05. It seems like it makes sense to "start with a fresh system, etc" as noted above. I've got the 1.82 utility on a windows 8 machine, and the .215 zip downloaded to a SD ext card. My question is how do I upgrade the .211 base to .215 using SS3? Thanks,

Ok, I updated my safe strap to the newest version. Everything has gone smoothly. I have flick rom running in slot one, but when I went to set my notification sounds and ringtones, all my downloaded ringtones and tones I have created don't show up. I checked my files using root explorer and they are still on my phone. All it gives me as a choice are the stock android tones. How can I fix this?

Bobcat, it sounds like you may have either a bad copy of the rom check the MD5; or something w/the SS3 install, are you
sure that you deleted old versions of SS & their recoveries b4 installing SS3?

You boot into the stock android recovery and install it from there.

Question if you uninstall safe strap on your stock slot and reboot the phone would it cause problems and make you have to fastboot or no just wondering

Go to the very first post and read the op. It explains how to do it. There is a link to how to do it.
