In any case it's the same basically as 2.11... boot the phone and once the splash screen for SS comes up hit the menu key to enter into the recovery. from there you select a rom slot, allocate a size to it then install your rom. Do the wipes recommended by the rom dev.

I'm not sure installing over 2.11 isn't just a "bad" idea, it may not work at all. TWRP interface is entirely different beast - example, you really don't enable "safe" or "non-safe" side. You pick your ROM that you enabled/installed.
Reading my last post, I'd reco to you what Wolf did to me: Use Matt's Utility 1.82. Do steps 1, 2 and 3. BEFORE installing safestrap 2.11, install 3.05 instead. THEN you'll be clean and green and should work perfectly.

Yeah I just got done using Matt's utility. And after that everything worked perfectly. Installed a new ROM and am loving the new SS :-)

I fear that it would be horridly slow. Or completely dependant on speed of the SD and manufacturer. Which makes for a very random experience... and a full mailbox for me.
Still, to have the option would be nice. I have a 32gb Class 10 card and would like to have that option. I already have a lot installed on the "internal" sd card (external game files), so even creating 1 slot at 3gb still causes me to get low space warnings because the internal SD card is below 1gb in space.
I guess in my case, it's probably best to just stick with v2 of safestrap because I get more space that way.
I have seen people using the sdcard/sdcard-ext swap. Does this really work? I would think that safestrap would need the sdcard's already mounted, but that doesn't happen initially correct? Plus, wouldn't I also have to modify the "stock" ROM as well?
Then of course, there is the issue of constant writing to the external SD card which, as I've stated in a previous post, causes the SD card to wear out fast. I had my last class 10 32gb sd card go out after a year of use due to my constant writing of game data files (save files, etc).

^^^^^^^^^^ What Nite Wolf said..............

Actually, I followed Hashcode's instructions; & booted into non-safe side, disabled 2.11 recovery, moved my safestrap 2 directory *o sdcard-ext (optional, but recommended), then deleted the SS211 apk, & installed the apk for SS3.05, installed recovery & rebooted to create non-safe & safe partitions, & re-installed my custom rom on safe side.
If you have the right version of SS3.05, all should go well,as it has for me.
Good luck!

Here ya go.... :-)Would someone be so kind to send me this apk? I've been trying to download it for the last 3 hours and it won't download. I tried with a T1 line, with a fiber, and a cable connection. Thanks in advance.

:-)
I appreciate it... but it's only 105 bytes, shouldn't it be 4 mb? Thanks.

So I am on Arctic HD do I have to reset phone back to stock before installing SS3.05 or will the stock ROM be Arctic then new slot 1 would be a different ROM !!!
CArl
to avoid having some of the same "issues" that others have had, i would recommend using the utility and going back to stock, then install SS 3.0.5(per the OP instructions).... then reflash ArticHD..... oh dont forget to make backups prior to fastbooting etc....... and move current "safestrap" folder from your internal sdcard to your external (or PC) just in case you want to go back to SS 2.11.....

i booted back into stock by disabling the safe side. then i moved my SS folder from my internal SD card to my External SD card then i found the SafeStrap App then opened it and clicked Uninstall. From there i deleted the SS app and installed the 3.05 SS app and clicked install. then I rebooted my phone and booted into SafeStrap 3.05 with no problems. I messed around with if for awhile then had the balls to try and install Wizzed Beans ROM and the gapps package at the same time. and thats what im using now. My phone is a Razr not MAXX and its on .215 annnd yeah. all is good. i didnt SBF or anything, everything went ok even though i was totally unsure if it would.

However, Hashcode's instructions do talk about rebooting into Stock / non-safe side & removing the recovery in SS2, then moving the /safestrap directory, then deleting the SS2 apk, & doing theSS3 apk install at that point.
That's what I did too & everything is working fine; but it is not a good thing to have both recoveries installed concurrently…
So everyone should be sure to use SS2's "remove recovery" option, you probably just left that step out in your posting…
