Any rom you can use on 2.11 you can use on 3.05 and yes it's recommended to install on your stock side. I don't think 2.11 backups are compatable though.

Thanks, thought so, can't wait to start quad-booting! Gotta conserve my battery for now though, might lose power sometime today, I could always charge in the car if that happens, haha gotta be able to flash during this "storm of the century"

Hope the storm won't hit too bad. They say we will get the effects way up here in Northern Michigan too

Correction to a few posts earlier: Not every Rom that works in 2.11 will work in 3.05.. specifically, any kexec-based rom before 10/15 (I think that's the date). If you try to boot them up with 3.05, you'll get a soft brick.

I'm slightly confused about 1 small thing..
1. I currently have 215 as stock rom.
2. Slot 1 is Full Throttle Killer Bean
3. Slot 2 is Full Throttle STA CNA

Question:

On my internal SD card, are the folders for slots accurate? Inside my current "safestrap" folder, the folders are

Safe (has a TAR file in it)
ROM Slot-1 (has 4 img files in it)
ROM Slot-2 (has 4 img files in it)

I haven't activated any other slots, and have never made a backup of slot 2...so how is it that I have slot 2 img files already on my sd card?

And is the tar file in the "safe" folder an actual backup of my stock system?

Those aren't backups... those are the actual partition images.

Ok thanks for the heads up. I don't use any kexec roms yet. I should have done more homework.

I thought so I'm just confused about how the Rom Slot 2 img files came about when I haven't switched to anything else. I mean of the img files are made when I create the slot, then how does it know what apps I have installed if I switch slots and then switch back?

I know it's a weird question. But each slot has its own apps associated with it I assume... So when did safestrap actually make my slot 2 partition files?

When you're in Safestrap and you tell it to create a slot, it allocates the amount of space you told it to at that moment. Even if you don't install a ROM in it, it still creates the image.

OK, feel free to call me noob and other names. I've read this entire thread twice now and have seen my issue, and that folks have figured it out - but I cannot figure it out.

BASE: SS2.xx, Arctic HD

1. I downloaded 3.05 and put on sdcard-ext root.
2. based on instructions, I moved sdcard/safestrap to external card. I MOVED them, I didn't copy/paste.
3. I rebooted into SS2.xx. Removed the safe side.
4. I looked for the "remove recovery" option - couldn't find it. So I decided to reboot into and go into the stock rom
5. I boot logo looped.
6. 3-finger salute back to reboot, SS2.xx, and try again.
7. Logo loop.
8. 3-finger salute, reinstalled safe side, reboot, no issues. Running hot and normal.

EDIT: 9. Rebooted again into SS2.xx, and tried to go into stock. Still logo-looping. I'll give it another few mins, then back to Safeside.

So, why did this happen?

The instructions say hit button to remove recovery. I think this means I need to do this from "safestrap", but does that mean while in recover? Should I have safestrap APP somewhere? I do not see one.

Also - I don't think I can get into stock at this point (I'll try again). Do I have to reinstall my safestrap files to start over?

Sorry for the noob-type questions but there's a word here and there my brain must be looking for and I can't find it!

Just curious, can you just install this over 2.11? Or is there something else you have to do? Didn't see it in a post, maybe I over looked it.....:)

No you can't. Go back to the OP (1st post) and follow the links to the directions on how to install. It walks you through it.

Rockin' it with my Maxx, iKream and T-Talk

You're most likely better off to fastboot back to stock, wipe the sd/sd-ext and install SS3.05. Start with a clean slate and should be good to go.

Yeah I was afraid you'd say that........ I already dl's Matt's utility....... The good news is, I was thinking of changing Roms soon anyhow, so no real loss. AND, I've gotten so much help from this site I'm not the least bit worried about doing it all again, etc.

Thank you!

EDIT: Used utility, started over, did first 3 steps, but then installed SS3.05 instead of SS2.xx.......... works ilke a charm!!

I think you will appreciate just how much faster SS3.05 is compared to SS2.xx. It's like lightning in comparison

Ok i installed v3.05 on the safe side of safestrap stock. I can get onto the recovery just fine but i can't figure out how to turn safe system back on again. It won't let me create rom slots or anything except for booting back into stock. Help!

Do you mean you installed 3.05 while on a rom? If that's the case then you did it wrong. It must be installed on non safe stock side to avoid conflicts

The first question I have is how do I enable safesystem. I'm going to try fast booting all the way back to stock Ice Cream Sandwich and then installing the recovery that way but I still can't find how to enable safe systems so if somebody could tell me where that is that would be cool I was able to back up my stock system just fine. And yes i did install in stock system not a rom (installed over 2.11).
