Actually I think a better fix for the /sdcard to /sdcard-ext swap for the stock roms would be changing the mounts in vold.fstab. I believe the init.rc files are overwritten each time you boot... isn't that right? Check this post out:

I used the 1GB partition size on 3 slots and when I booted up in the 3rd slot I got a low internal memory message.

I did not install my apps in the second one and hadn't installed anything in the 3rd slot. Just thought I would say something.

Is there anyway to get these slot roms to install on the sd_ext were i have 8gigs free instead of the internal which iis pretty much full with 2 rom slots. I only have enough space for 2 roms with 1 gig to store on. Just curious. Other then that this thing is beast!

Best I can figure, is that Hash pretty much worked out that there would be a definite slow speed factor involved. I've tons of room on my SD- EXT, but will have to live with things as they are, which ain't exactly all that bad with a very flash friendly recovery!

Hey anyone else have problems with downloading apps that require sd card? I tried downloading Glow Hockey 2 from the app store and it said it can't save to USB storage our sd. Also Titanium Backup Didn't work when trying to restore it. I'm on flick 1.8 BTW

i read were he commented on why no roms on the sd ext cause of speed. Boot manager on my x runs roms from the sd card and they run fine. But what i plan on doing is eliminating my base save side rom with a custom rom instead of stock rooted. That way i will be fine. I will never use the stock rooted ever again anyways.

titanium backup works fine. Move your titanium backup folder to your external SD card.

Seems like 2 custom roms plus stock should be enough to satisfy most users, otherwise you can make nsndroids, store them on ext-sd and swap those in and out of slots on internal to feed your crackflash habit....

No it's not permanent It'll have to be modded unless it's included in the ROM. I just did it to accommodate the swap in stock. I suppose it could be included in an init.d script... maybe using sed..

3 roms 2 of which are 2 gigs and one is 1 gig. Didn't have room for a third 2 gig. So far everything seems fine. Wish there was a way to section out below a gig but this is still way cool none the less.

Anyone who doesn't know whether to choose 1, 2, or 3 GB. On your current rom, go into settings -> storage and look at the internal application storage and see how much of it you are using, that should give you an idea of which option you need.

Something weird happend with my phone today. I started at 99% with rom slot 1 and switched to rom slot2 at 90%. I stayed on rom slot2 until 70% battery and went back to rom slot1. The battery % was still 90% on rom slot1  I used my phone all day to get the stats to repair itself. My battery is showing 45% now and when i turned off the phone and plugged it back in, it showed 30%. sigh A minute later I rebooted and my battery showed 44% . anyone else or im the only lucky one having a blast today B)

I had the same problem. I use my stock side as my daily driver and it said 60 before I powered down but when I booted into ss3 it said 44 and I installed 2 roms and while that was going on the battery read that it dropped down to 38 but then I switched back to stock and I was at 55 and after a couple minutes it was down to 45.

^^^

Check a few pages back....Hash already addressed the battery issues....basically you need to let the ROM settle for a lil bit before you get accurate % readings

Crap....Im finally getting around to install SS3 and Im already running into a prob....

After I switch from Safe to non-safe and try to reboot....I get stuck on boot logo.

I think I know where I went wrong

IF COMING FROM A PREVIOUS VERSION OF SAFESTRAP (v2.x):

  • You will want to move the entire “/sdcard/safestrap” directory to the external SD card (/sdcard-ext). These are your backups and in a catastrophic situation you could revert to Safestrap v2 and use them.
  • Go into the existing version of Safestrap and use the “Remove Recovery” button to remove the Safestrap files from the stock /system.
  • And lastly, remove the APK from the device as you would any other app.

After I did step 1.....I went ahead and accidentally deleted 'sd card/safestrap' directory from my internal memory. (this was while I was on safemode). Then I swapped back to non-safe and tried to boot up in stock and now im stuck on boot logo. I can do a reset, enter back into SS menu and swap back to safe and boot back up ROM. Just cant boot stock system.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Just went back to my ROM and checked internal storage and the '/sd card/safestrap' folder is back. It appears to be the same exact one.....but still having same issue

Ok, here's one: since the internal SD is now relatively usurped by ss3, is there a simple mod to have the stock (or any ROM) download any files onto the SD-ext instead? I'm guessing a small tweak to a line somewhere?
