The tools like HOM, Mats utility RSD etc all automate the fastboot commands for you. All that they do can be done as far as flashing and partition management can be done from the command line in fastboot mode. They just elimanate the errors caused by typos and syntax. It is always good to understand what the tool is doing for you to help solve problems. You can google fastboot commands and adb commands and read explanations of the commands to give you an idea.

Thank you spainter,
Yes, I already realised that all those untilities are just making batch files with the set of commands for fastbook.
Ok, software solution didn't work her, will go home and re-assemble it - we'll see if I manage to somehow recover GPS antenna contacts.
Presume they are located nearby the camera and rear speaker - since it looks like the antenna is a film located on the plastic around the frame under the back cover.
Cheers, Max

The explanation of what the tools does was really simplified. There is a lot of work that goes into the tools to cover all the different devices. The changes of the files released for the devices. The newer tools that have been developed here in the last few years has had to evolve quickly and do a very good job making a teadious task a walk in the park. Really when it all boils down to is I suggest that you get familiar with the command line.
