Hello,

I bricked my xt912 phone. I had Aviator_CM11_KitKat_NIGHTLY_20140118 running on slot 1 with safestrap 3.65. I changed my boot to the stock rom slot and tried to restore a backup of slot 1 to the stock slot. Now I can't get the phone to boot. hard reset does not help. I see the motorola screen and then nothing.

I think my mistake was the I didn't have safestrap installed in the stock rom slot

I have a backup of 11.1 on slot 1

I have safestrap installed on slot 1

The backup and safestrap boot roms are on the external SD card.

Is there any way to get my phone to boot back to slot 1 or install a bootable image into the stock rom slot?

I had been running 11.1 and upgrading to the nightly updates for months. The 11.1 rom has been working great.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Bubba,

I really appreciate your help. The House of Moto re-image worked great. As soon as I heard that first "droid" I knew I was good to go. Now I have my stock 4.1.2 rom working. I installed safestrap 3.65 so that I won't hose it again. I'm back to running CM 11.1 on rom slot 1, which is working really well.

Got my ringer sound back.  UGH!

Phone keeps losing ringer sound settings.  Very annoying. Lots of missed calls.

Thinking of trying Gummy or pure CM11.

What is the difference between Aviator and pure CM11?

Yes, I see the wallpaper:-) - But, what exactly has Zk  added to mod this rom?

Both Awesome ROMs...
* Gummy sometimes will Lock up... But a Solid Daily Drive..
* CM11...tight as a Rope for being another Daily Drive
* The Differences...

Having a Hard time which to chose...Sooo I will use Gummy for a Week than CM 11 for a week...results...

Both a Thumbs Up

The majority is under the hood stuff. Tweaks, etc. Then minor theming changes such as blacked out menu, see through backgrounds, etc as well as the Aviator settings options :)

Thank so much!  So, am I correct in assuming that you are actually tweaking the CM11 build?   That's what is enabling the goodies in the Aviator build.  So, is ist safe to also assume, that u r modding the nuts and bolts of CM11? What is the basic difference between Gummy and Aviator Cm?  Asking so many questions because I would love to use one of this instead of stock.

My old Gnex is running Shiny Rom as stock and it works great.  But, the GNEX didn't require Safestrap:-)

Safestrap is the way to go. It makes it soooo easy for anyone to use. EVEN NOOBS!

Question:
Why is it so important to replace the Stock ROM...

If it's for "More Space" not sure that's the right reason's

It can be used instead of stock anytime! I just recommend to use it on a different ROM slot than stock :p

Zk you are saying to wipe stock from device and just roll with the rom, correct? Or you saying copy stock to diff slot, and rolling with the rom on stock slot( this can't be what ur saying, too many coronas for me????) I'm just thinking keep stock for if there's a problem with rom so u can run it.. Myself has had absolutely no problems with the rom, but if there's an update that makes something not work correctly on the rom which I think could happen, u got a failsafe. Like I said I never had any problems with ur silky smooth, buttery slick work on kit kat rom... My only problem of why I had to get rid of it and not use it, was a space issue. But then wiping stock, using rom as stock would clear that mess.

I'm very tempted to throw ur kit kat back on.... Just need to figure a space option out... I don't have many apps, a lot of $hit is on my SD and email s and small things are deleted. So I'm thinking I must have a few huge apps, and a ton of temp and or fragmented files.. Idk..

You may also want to Foot loose back to Stock and Remove any Apps you No longer use...Caution with the Verzion Updater if its not Frozen in Titatium ...

Now Goto:

  • Settings....
  • Apps....
  • All
  • Chose Menu
  • Sort by Size
  • Backups should be in External SD...

This brings up All the Heavy's MB Apps first...Nice place to start to do a Little Dusting n Cleaning

Remember to Reboot after you've Removed...

Removing apps from you stock rom won't get you any extra space for this one.  The apps you remove are on the stock rom.  The stock rom partition knows nothing about safestrap slots.  They are located at /data/apps on the stock rom.  Not on the internal storage.  The stock rom is on it's own partition.  All you'll gain is space on the stock rom slot.
