Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I have a problem. I'm using SafeStrap 3.11 and have one ROM (slot 1) besides stock. It was created with 1 Gb of Data space. Now that it's been running a few weeks, I am getting "Insufficient Storage Space" messages when some apps try to automatically update. It isn't consistent. Yesterday two apps failed. Today a bunch updated and all succeeded, including the ones from yesterday. The system says I have 141Mb left in "app and data storage".

Any suggestions? And Hashcode, would you consider the option of allowing additional system space in the next update?

First off, the app& data storage capacity fluctuates because of what gets kept in open apps individual cache files. The system manages those files during operation in order to keep the foreground apps running, but if you have background apps updating + a lot of/large foreground apps running you're going to run out of room periodically. Once the caches get cycled out you get more room for updates.
Since you only have one ROM on the unsafe side the best thing to do is to back it up, then delete & recreate slot 1 with a 2gb data partition. Then you can restore your backup, wipe cache/dalvik & reboot. You will have lost nothing but 15 minutes and doubled your favorite ROMs operating capacity.

Thanks. My misunderstanding was in my assumption that I needed more system space for the apps, not more data space. I did as you advised, and I now have 1.02Gb free space for apps, where before it was about 167Mb.

Hey man, sorry to get back to you late... If it were me, I'd go thru my ROM slots & pare down what you haven't used in awhile. With ss3.6 you can flash anything to the stock slot to use as a daily driver, then free up that space for safestrap to use.
How many ROM slots do you have active?
Where are your backups stored? This got me after I upgraded to ss3.6. It defaulted to internal storage for backups so I ate up a lot of room without realizing it.

a try.  It won't get rid of stuff for you but it will show you what's using what when it comes to your phone storage space.  It might point out something you haven't noticed already.

Note...Internal SD to External SD...

The result are...Yes!!!

It does increase space on your Internal SD card...
Awesome...

What I might try is to flash it from the External at some point...or bring back or swap out ROMs

I've always kept all ROMS on the external sd. They flash just fine from there.
