long story short.. rooted ICS wifi stopped working reflashed ICS forgot to reroot, and updated to Jellybean, now I've tried to use motochopper, Razr blade, linux in Virtual machine.. linux by using ubuntu.. to obtain root again.. all of which looked like they went without problem.. and said successful after but is that also just in batch file to say its done? none have given me root though, root checker by joey k? says i have no root access.. Razr Xt910, Rogers, canada, i also tried upgrading to 4.2 jellybean but that didn't work either, do i need root access to be able to do that for sure?

That is the exploit for your device. There are some set up things that can complicate a VM. Try this method
It is a little easier to setup.
