- Windows Instructions
Extract .zip to its own folder on the Desktop.
Install the required drivers. The folder with the drivers is called "Drivers [WINDOWS ONLY]" and is included in the Utility folder.
Double click the ".bat" file. This will be called "WindowsUtility.bat" the image is just for reference.
 

 
 
- Mac & Linux Instructions
Extract the .zip to any folder you like, the /Downloads/ or /Desktop/ folder should work just fine.
Open a Terminal window. (On Mac: Applications > Utilities > Terminal)
Learn your 'sudo' password. This is almost always your Admin password on a Mac computer. On Linux you should already know what this is, its yours account password if your account is an admin as well.
Type the following code into the Terminal Windows, places where it says ***DRAG HERE*** are telling you to simply drag the folder there. For example: cd ***DRAG FOLDER HERE*** then press 'Enter' after each line.

You will be asked for your sudo password at least once in the Utility process, so make sure you followed the instructions to learn it.

Number 1 Explained -- This option requires your phone be in AP Fastboot mode. It will flash the official 4.1.2 System, Kernel, and Radio as well we wipe your data.
 
Number 2 Explained -- This option requires your phone be in AP Fastboot mode. It will flash the official 4.1.2 Stock Recovery.
 
Number 3 Explained -- This is Dan Rosenberg's root exploit called 'Motochopper'. This option requires your phone to be booted normally, with USB Debugging enabled.
 
Number 4 Explained -- This option requires your phone to be booted normally, with USB Debugging enabled. It will install an App version of Dan Rosenberg's Motopocalypse exploit for unlocking the bootloader.
 
Number 5 Explained -- This option requires your phone to be booted normally with USB Debugging enabled, and be already Rooted. This will flash TWRP 2.5.0.0 Recovery.
 
Number 6 Explained -- This option requires your phone to be booted normally with USB Debugging enabled, and be already Rooted. This will flash OUDHS 1.0.3.4 Recovery.
 
Number 7 Explained -- This option requires your phone to be booted normally with USB Debugging enabled, and be already Rooted. This will flash CWM 6.0.3.2 Recovery.
 
 
Remember, do not run this utility unless your phone is at 100% battery OR you have bought yourself one of

Question...  Will this format the external SD card, or should I go and pull that out for the restore to stock, reroot, unlock, etc?

Cool, used the tool, back to stock, rooted, unlocked and manually debloated.  May not be as flashy as CM10.1, but everything works and no more deep sleep issues...

I'm having trouble, i successfully reverted to stock with the utility (on OSX), but when trying to root, i get this:

 

[*] Press enter to root your phone...

 

[*]

[*] Waiting for device...

error: protocol fault (no status)

[*] Device found.

[*] Pushing exploit...

* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *

* daemon started successfully *

error: device not found

error: device not found

[*] Pushing root tools...

error: device not found

error: device not found

error: device not found

- waiting for device -

 

 

and then it just hangs until i exit out of terminal (the phone shows no activity)  any ideas?

 

 

ok.... also just switched over to my windows partition to try running it from there. I click on the "WindowsUtility" batch file, but when i follow directions to press any key to continue, the command line window just disappears. help?  (also tried running as administrator, no luck)

Would it be possible to get a brief explanation of the differences in the three recoveries (CWM, TWRP and OUDHS) and a recommendation on which one to use? Being a Bionic weenie, we only have one choice (just like what VZW does to us) but I've unlocked and rooted the GF's Maxx HD as well as installed TWRP but I was wondering if there is something better out there. BTW, thanks for the great utility!!

Not sure if this is reproducible but for fyi sake I will post my experience. 

Last night I tried to run option one and stock my razr hd xt926 but ended up bricking my phone.

I was shocked since I even took the extra time to make sure I did a md5sum and my phone had about 80% charge.

I repeated the process a few times with the same result even.

 

for the "system" portion i got the following on the computer

Preflash validation failed

FAILED (remote failure)

 

and on the phone

Invalid entry hash for system: index=0

 

and at the end it got stuck pushing the modem

 

I even tried using rsdlite but same result.

 

I finally tried unzipping the utility with the windows built-in tool instead of my thus til now trusted 7-zip and the thing just worked after doing that. 

 

My intent for doing all this was to try and fix my wifi dropout issues by reflashing 9.16.6 but no luck there.

7zip is great for some things..but not extracting the utilities...... I recommend using WinZip to extract the utilities .... even the one built into windows dont always play nice

i've used all three, though only twrp for a brief period(as somewhere along the line, it deleted my stock back up), but twrp is more user friendly...cwm and oudhs are the same, except oudhs is touch based and cwm you have to use the volume up/down rocker and power to navigate...i've used cwm since the OG droid days, so i prefer either that or oudhs(i'm using oudhs currently, as the touchscreen navigation is more convenient)

You can do that. The Utility is really just fastbooting the recovery file to your phone. You may have to change the name to match the file you are replacing. Not sure about that

Sure you can.... just remember you need to either change the filename to match the script.... or change the line(s) in the script to match the new file :

What is the deal with CM10.1 not allowing adb?

adb devices shows device offline.

I never got the "Allow ADB on this device" message that all the threads said I should get.

I had to restore my DST nandroid in order to update TWRP recovery to 2.6 via the Utility.

Jumped through every hoop listed, but none allowed adb on CM10.1.

 

This is why I asked this question. My attempts yesterday failed due to this problem.

I have the OTA that was pushed earlier this week. I want to flash back to the original 4.1.2 firmware because I started having issues when that was pushed a few months ago and I think I got a bad flash. The new firmware is suppose to block the bootloader exploit. I am not looking to unlock my phone. I just want to reflash stock and root. Has anyone evaluated flashing back to earlier versions from the latest OTA? Is it safe to try or am I risking brick?

Are you using volume up to select Fastboot? When you scroll down with volume down, you make your selection by pressing volume up.

I purchased a Maxx HD Saturday and the seller had already updated to 9.20.1  As I understand it, I'm screwed as far as rooting the phone as it cannot be SBF with RSD Lite (or whatever the term is now) back to stock. Is that true?

I was able to use this tool to downgrade to the original 4.1.2, root, protect root and update. I was not on 9.20.1 though. I was on 9.18.79. That should not really matter, but I am not sure.

I'm trying to revert back to stock using a mac. I try to run the first script and it gives me this response in terminal:
