I would just call verizon and get a replacement if your worried. One replacement they sent me had the Cynogin wallpaper on it. They probably care less of what you flashed. As long as its not damaged physically. Get a replacement. And its better if you have insurance. You will get one the next day :). Done it 3 times already.

My phone is running great. Root and everything else. But is it possible to hard brick these and return them under warranty? They replaced my first for speaker crackle. 'my phone died' if the phone won't even boot up nobody can see what was on it. Somebody posted they returned their's after the .181 OTA and the store was aware the OTa had bricked other phones.

Just curious. Sounds better than dropping it in a pool. I actually don't have insurance but have never needed knock on wood.

False warranty claim is fraud and if VZW finds out you rooted and bricked it they can put a healthy retail price on your next bill.

I trip people do all type of illegal stuff and then act as if they're here flashing unofficial OS's and its ok to be the better angel of others lol.

Which might also mean they can reflash consumer units since they have the bootloader encryption keys right?

Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

Yes they can do that to any phone. The did it for me as a warranty repair on my Bionic.

Not always as there are times a device can get to a point where it CAN NOT be reflashed or saved. That is very very unlikely to be the case 99% of the time but it is possible. I know first hand with 2 devices I have that are paperweights forever. And yes I did have a my contact even try to have them saved and they couldn't even do it.

However in the case of what is going on here odds are yes they would be able to save them with the right software & hardware needed to do it.

People are dumb. The unlock solution was soooo simple this whole time. Someone gets a job at motorola aquire the unlock tool and upload it from a secure location xD

Well, I was in this situation when they had two update files for the Bionic that had the same filename, but they were different files. Anyone who had a Bionic last fall remembers the nightmare that was. Anyway, I couldn't flash the OTA so they gave me a replacement. When I activated it I couldn't get a data connection but I figureed NBD, I have the file anyway. But I flashed the leak instead of the Official Update so now I was stuck again since P3 hadn't created his work around yet. So I called them and told them what I did, not VZW but Motorola since I knew VZW couldn't reflash the phone, told them I inadvertantly flashed the wrong file and would it be possible for me to send my phone there to have it reflashed. They said no problem, it was under warranty and issued me an RMA and told me how to ship it. 4 days later I got the same phone back with the correct software. All it cost me was the freight to get it to Texas. I don't know if their policy has changed, this was last October or November. If you lie to them they can't help you. I offered to pay for the service which I was sure was cheaper than a new phone but they told me it wasn't necessary. That's the backup to my RAZR MAXX now. Waiting for the ICS for that if it ever gets released.

I don't think in our particular situation with this leak that they COULD reflash it. Unless they have tools from Moto that WE do not.

Not that simple. Each file has a "tag" when it moves about Moto's systems. Especially the sensitive ones. If a file escapes the system(leaks) all moto has to do is download the leaked file and check the tag, I.e. the person who leaked it.. then the fit hits the shan....
