4) no idea. Haven't tried it yet. But its irrelevant. You'be got bigger issues if you think flashing this leak is a good idea considering that it updates the bootloader, awesomely making ours now incompatible with ALL of our current fastboot tools / files.

Yea that's kind of a requirement to trying this stuff out, being able to fastboot back...Wish peeps wouldn't even post leaks until it can be absolutely 100% verified that it's fastbootable back...just stupid to do it without knowing you can fastboot first.

Thanks!

1)no one credible said it was the official build (ota that will be release and in fact the opposite was stated)
...
4) there is no news widget but there are tons of third party such as pulse

Tracked back, it was the site that linked here that said it not this site...my bad

I've tried I'm sure just about every third party news widget out there; none even come close to the ease of use of the stock one...I just can't imagine how apparently no one but myself and the guy at moto that designed that app get it; that it's rather nice to have source/pic at top, then headline below, then good chunk of the start of the article below that (and a more link to have it expand to read it all or hit source link). Then just swipe your thumb to the next one...next, next, next etc...

The pulse one just about gave me a freakin panic attack of clusterf%$k overload trying to see/focus and read one headline at a time...I was butt tired after two pages of trying...DONE; that one ain't for me.

I swear if it is truly ditched in the next OTA I'm going to have to pay a developer to re-write it and have it available in the app store (it's one of the primary reasons I've used Mot droids for the last few years).

Yeah bud. The awesome sauce in that sandwich is that they SAID it HAD been tested. Then posted the thread saying it was backward fastbootable. Add to that... they removed another user's thread who posted it for belief that it had not been tested... pretty sweet communication if you ask me.

Whatevs. Gotta pretty snazzy ICS build on my phone. In a couple of days I'll probably get bored with it, want something custom and attempt to accomplish the impossible and brick and just bite the bullet and get a Gnex. Screw Moto. I'm so done with Moto's crap.

Just a few observations on .84...

It is possible to turn off mass storage- just go to Storage -> Menu key -> USB Computer Connection. The old options of MTP and PTP are available as well as mass storage. Don't know about accessing it through a lockscreen yet- I can try this later.

Having spent some time in a roaming zone I will say that it behaves exactly as it did on Gingerbread- no issues with outgoing calls or texts. No experience with data as I don't feel like paying roaming data fees and thus have it disabled.

As far as the battery thing, sounds like bad calibration, just get a utility to clear your battery stats (root required obv.) I did a factory wipe before installing and I haven't seen any gauge wonkiness at all in two days of use.

No stability issues whatsoever. The only thing I have found that needs a bit of polish is that the list of storage devices contains a list of 7 or 8 placeholder USB mountable devices. 3G/4G is better than either .75 or GB, battery life seems better (although this is almost always anecdotal).

This feels like a much more final build than .75 did. Whether or not .84 or .85 are the final OTAs... If we are "stuck" here for now there are certainly worse builds to be running for a daily driver. I'm quite happy with the way MotoICS is shaping up.

I think Moto did our wives/gfs a favor by getting us crackflashers stuck on this build for now. :)

We are only stuck until we either (1) get fxz files for our new bootloader version, or (2) figure out how to allow our existing fxz files to flash on our new bootloader. Likelihood that this is the new bootloader version is fairly high. It wouldn't make sense for Moto to put a crap bootloader on a solid build. I would think that that type of programming / testing would happen wah before they make a composite update pkg.

I think the .84 build eats a little more battery than stock .181...don't about the first leaked ICS. None the less it is nice...I don't find being stuck on this leak but would like the piece of mind to know I can get back to stock if I have to.

*sigh* people, wiping batt stats does nothing for your current battery level and also does nothing to improve battery life.

I was referring to the invalid reporting of battery level after rebooting, referred to in the first post.

A corrupted battery stats file could contribute to that issue.

I agree with the battery being all screwy after a reboot. I can't even charge after a reboot because the phone goes to 100% on reboot. Have to drain a long time to be able to charge

I haven't had any battery issues on 84. Guess am just lucky. Mine runs crazy smooth. Only bug I've noticed so far is choppy scrolling on some apps.
