I downloaded the leaks but im too scared to install them now after listening to everybody. I have the first release of the full version of the razr restore file of gingerbread thats the same exact version that came preinstalled on the razr. Does anybody have problems going back to that version from the leak? I installed the first icecreame sandwich leak and returned to stock with no problems at all. I dont know if others have the same version of the full restore file i have or not, and what version of razr. I have the first razr release not the maxx. Im impatient too for the Motorola release to be pushed out, its hard to wait. I think i read it will be released around the end of may. You cant install any of the ics relases from gummy, dt, droidt3ory or others comming from the leaks, i tried that and the roms installed but when i booted my razr all i got was black screen and had to return to gingerbread usind rdlite.

Not a good idea to flash either 84 or 85 until we figure out a way to get back to 173 or 181. At this point, everyone of 84 or 85 is walking on glass. It's as of we have no recovery options since fastboot is out of the question. Not even remotely work the risk at this point.

ES File Manager has permission for superuser..... but I don't know why busybox installer and ROM Toolbox Pro keep telling me that I have no root access. Motofail worked.... or at least it said it did, following my ICS Leak update. Any helps be 'preciated much.

No.......? Hehheh.... :-/ This is probably a stupid question... but how does es file explorer have it and nothing else can get it? Is it because it had SU permissions prior to my update? I dunno..... I"m still thankful for Leak!

You lost root. Any apps that previously had superuser permissions will still display the "xxxxx has been granted superuser permissions" toast, even if you don't have root.

Vital question: did you protect root using Voodoo OTA prior to applying the update?

You won't be so thankful until we get a recovery method. Be careful. Don't do anything that could remotely cause a bootloop. We're back into killer bootloop territory.

If you didn't protect root with voodoo prior to applying the update, you just won't have root. So far there is no method of rooting 4.0.3 directly. Only by maintaining it through an upgrade.

On the off chance... use ES explorer and go to your /system folder. Is there a file named "su-backup"?

No. I didn't. Shoot heck fire darnit fartbiscuit! I got nervous about voodoo and didn't use it. Gosh darnit!! I'll just wait for any new rooting method besides "motofail" to come out.

Thank you for the warning,as well. I don't think I'll ever be going back to GB. This is some really amazing work. Are you aware of anyone working on a rooting method?

Sorry dude. Yeah you're SOL for now in terms of root or reverting. Thankfully it really is sweet. It's been very stable and fluid for me for the last 24-or-so hours. No worries. I'm confident that with enough time we'll find something.

There will likely not be a root method released for this since it's a leak. Most likely is that we will have a fastboot method first, and since you can preserve root through the upgrade process it sort of makes it pointless.

Whatever you do DO NOT try to fastboot ANYTHING until it's confirmed working. Using either RSD or Matt's utility or other manual method. Let the experts test it first. It will be front page droidrzr.com news when the fix drops.

OK if someone wants to try this they can I fixed a friends RAZR with thus method.

1) uninstall all your drivers + MotoHelper.
2) Reinstall driver's and reboot pc.
3) Get the 173 system.img and the grfs, aka webtop from 173 fastboot files as well.
4) Open a cmd window on PC, where you put the two files. "Make sure you have the moto-fastboot files".
5) Put phone in AP fastboot mode.
6) Type moto-fastboot.exe flash grfs grfs.img
7) Type moto-fastboot.exe flash system system.img
8) Type moto-fastboot.exe reboot

This will flash the 173 system and webtop on your phone. You will still have the ics kernel and radios. After you boot up now try running RSD Lite, the 173 package, with the swapped out XML file. You can get all the stuff needed to do this in my thread "How to unbrick your RAZR, go back to stock"

Like I said my friend got it to work I don't no if it 100% will but its worth a shot.

I'm currently out with my family visiting a family member in the hospital so I have no access to a PC.

Good luck and god speed.

All DEV'S are looking at multiple ways to fix this issue. I can assure you that we are doing anything we can and reaching out to all resources we have. Thus is are main priority, and hope to have a fix as soon as we can. I thank the kind emails I have received from some of you, with your support. Everyone at DROIDRZR is working are butt's off to get you guys back on path.

Thank you.
