My bad. You know what they say about assuming. I'll look into it.

Looks like some commits were removed from the kernel. Recompiling now.

But I broke it again :p

Edit: Nvm I didn't commit the broken stuff yet.

I think I have it working. I just need to clean up some theming that I lost when I recompiled. Should be done some point tonight. Figures the nightly I build off has a camera issue......Murphy's law

So I'm curious to these "nightlies" I keep reading about.  are those just files that folks need to flash if they are running that ROM in order to keep it more stable?  do they have been flashed every night/day?  what happens if the user "forgets" - sluggishness?

thanks!

The nightlies are published on a different website, and they do appear to get updated almost every night.

Just means it gets any improvements made in that day. Days can be skipped without issue.

For Clockworkmod Recovery:

Everything seems to be working well!

What I did:

1. FOLLOWED OP INSTRUCTIONS

(Wiped Data, Cache, Dalvik, and format system - TWICE)

2. Mounted system

3. Flashed 5/4 nightly, then Orion.

4. Rebooted

5. Rebooted again on "welcome" screen after getting cell data.

6. Profit

7.Thank Marxman3 and Dhacker.

(Tip: On second reboot i would get "Sim Card - reboot your phone" which forces your to reboot (can't bypass). Simply reboot again and select "English" before that pop-ups to bypass.)

Hats off to Marxman3 and Dhacker. This is my first rom since BL unlocked.... awesome job!

I just saw this post by Trylek09 back on the 5th of May. He mentions that he flashed the 5/4 nightly (I'm assuming this was the CM10.1 nightly) and then Orion. Just wondering why you would flash this over the nightly. I know I'm missing something here, like I missed that you have to tap the Build number 7 times just to get the Developer options to show up on the settings

ah.  so the nightlies are essentially the latest ROM that the developer is working on (kind of like an "in progress").  so by flashing the nightly, you would be up to date installing the developer's latest tweaks (which could be good or bad) - right?

Most of the CM10.1 ROMs have been updated and fixed.

Marx, just a question.  I flashed this on Friday and it wouldn't auto rotate.  I looked through the .apk's to clean the motion detection of its data and get auto rotation back.  However, there was no auto rotation .apk in system/apps.  Am I missing something?  I would love to use this if I could get auto rotate.  Rotation was enabled in all three settings menus.

It's working now

I highly recommend flashing the Vanquish kernel with this. Because I've been driving myself to the verge of brain damage caused by the monotony of theming I haven't had time to pull it in to the source code. That is my next priority. For the mean time there is a link to Bytecode's thread in post 2.

I couldn't help but laugh as I read through the posts I missed on my camping trip and notice there was a bit of squabbling about who released a working camera first. The answer to who did anything first will always be Dhacker. He writes the code. I sync, compile and tweak so he deserves the credit (always and forever). I'm just a hardcore crackflasher that likes to share......lol

The Kernel is how your software talks to your hardware. With custom Kernels there are tons of tweaks from performance to battery and more. Which is why CM10.1 kernels have bugs on Moto phones that the stock blur roms don't. Camcorder, camera, rotation, etc...(some of these are fixed already)

Screen rotation isn't working in this build. Not sure why because it was working on previous nightlies. It's on the list of things to do.
