Thank you to both AKG021494 for the original post & Aizarxplosiv for the follow-up details on how to proceed without losing data!  Worked perfectly on my sticky bit issue.

(download and follow these installation instructions first) If your computer doesn't see your device or the ADB command prompt says its offline, follow the instructions below. Make sure you have the latest device drivers for your device as well, ex. from Motorola, Samsung, LG, etc.

Also, make sure you turn off Media and Camera mode. Once you have done that, and if your computer doesn't recognize the phone, you can also download the ADB 1.0.31 file below. Once you have done that, right click on my computer, and click on properties, then device manager. Locate the yellow exclamation mark under network devices. Right click, install device driver. Manually install driver, and find the file ADB file from the link that you downloaded. Make sure you select the folder with your operating system (Ex. Windows, Linux) and install. you will get an unknown driver/software window, but install anyway. After it installs, your computer will now recognize your device. You then can proceed with the instructions to reset your Fastboot issue.

BTW AKG021494, Thanks a ton. Fixed my dad's Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD after I got the sticky bit issue from flashing a stock Verizon ROM 183.46.15.xT926 (Newest Kit Kat Release 4.4.2 for Razr Maxx HD)

]Make sure you have the latest usb drivers installed  (also this wont relock you bootloader if you unlocked it already, this will wipe your date so back it up)

you can download them here:

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

just click on USB drivers for devices.

you can download the android file here:

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

First you want to download this zip file extract the file to your computer so it should read C:\Android

Next click on it once so it's selected hold left shift and right click and click on "open command window here"

Now plug in you phone and boot it up normally, then make sure usb debugging is enabled.

now in the command window type "adb devices" (this makes sure your device is hooked up and ready to be fixed)<<<<<<<<<<<<This option in command prompt tells me that my phone is offline>>>>>>>>WHY!!!

List of commands to type in. ( in order)

1. adb reboot bootloader

2.fastboot oem fb_mode_set

3.fastboot oem fb_mode_clear

3.fastboot erase userdata

4.fastboot erase cache

5.fastboot reboot

thats all your phone should bootup normally (like when you first bought it ;) ) or like me i get the warning unlocked bootloader blah blah then phone boots up.

if you dont have an unlocked bootloader you can unlock it by typing the command fastboot oem unlock

decided to take matters in my own hands instead of searching my A$$ of to find solutions.

Your phone must be in fastboot mode, using a usb 2.0 port, Motorola data cable not a knockoff. and the drivers must be loaded properly.

Also to save you some swearing you don't have to erase the user data unless it is a scrambled partition that is causing the problem then it is a roll of the dice as far as a hardware failure goes.

This is all you have to type in from fastboot prompt.

fastboot oem fb_mode_set

fastboot oem fb_mode_clear

fastboot reboot
