Posting the link. Full disclosure. I also have this same thread posted on xda-developers, droidforums, and androidcentral. I plan on including the link in all 4 posts.

Looks like I already have a bug to fix. Someone just pointed it out in another forum. I'll go ahead and place a link to
as soon as I have it ready and you can grab it from MediaFIre or DropBox and put it on your page when you get a chance.
Marty,
If you make updates and need me to reupload just hit me up.

Found a bug... Nothing that would affect the overall functionality, but it could cause some users to think that their phone is successfully connected via USB debugging, when it really isn't. Adding the new links to the original post now...

Would love to see some stats on number of downloads if you're running any analysis. Just since posting version 4 late last night, there were 31 downloads from MediaFire. We had around 150 downloads on MediaFire from version 3, and it was posted for less than 24 hours.

Stumped...I've tried all adapter names and still getting the "Invalid IP Address" error. Anyone else come across this?
Posted 03 May 2013 - 06:27 AM
ok, I get to the part where it says press volume up/down, or power button. I apparently am always missing this window(phone pretty much immediately restarts), as then my phone just continually vibrating and then commences to do random restarts.
Thanks in advance
UPDATE: so, yeah I'm an idiot, the restarts were due to LBE Privacy Guard which is not compatible with JB yet.

Here are some tips for anyone who is having trouble getting a valid IP address. The first thing you should check is the network configuration within VirtualBox. If your computer has more than one network adapter, VirtualBox may be trying to use the wrong one, which would result in the Linux VM being unable to acquire an IP address. Please look at the attached picture. The only thing you should ever change is the drop down box field called "Name:". If you change any other settings, either change them back, or re-import the .ova file again.

I have tried this many times, even d/l'd the .ova from all links to ensure I had good copy.
When I run this I get:
CONFIRMED! Phone connected to SMB.
then I plug in USB and get:
CONFIRMED! Phone connected to USB.
Continuing...
[+] Waiting for device...
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
then nothing, If I check Devices on the VM under USB it says:
Failed to attach the USB device Motorola XT875 [0216] to the virtual machine Linux Minimal.
USB device 'Motorola XT875' with UUID {6d9fc132-2b91-4aee-9868-463c155ebe59} is busy with a previous request. Please try again later.

Callee: IConsole {db7ab4ca-2a3f-4183-9243-c1208da92392}
Am I doing something wrong?
Although, when I look at my apps Superuser is there, When I try to open it and it asks me to install it I get an error.

Try plugging into different ports on your computer until it make a connection in the VM. When it finally connects, you will see a line of text pop up, which is a message from the Linux kernel, letting you know that a new device was discovered.

I tried all of my ports, every time the (Windows) window will open asking what I want to do and IE opens up for the Verizon Backup Assistant but Linux sees nothing. Even tried a different cable. Oh, and now my SD card has an issue with the phone telling me it is blank even though I can see directories and files via explorer.

ok phone never reboots says system sh not found help please
Posted 03 May 2013 - 12:07 PM
after many attempts with the linux exploit that I attemted to do in Ubuntu and Fedora (all failing) then attemting this one, I have finally achieved the root. While on Linux, the phone kept telling me that it couldn't connect to the server. In windows, VM originally wouldn't recognize my wifi. Once that was fixed, VM kept giving an odd ip. Even after "rebooting" the virtual machine, it would keep getting the same ip. Rebooted windows and my phone, they finally spoke to each other. Root achieved on the first attempt.
Thanks for building this virtual machine.
Thanks for rooting this phone.
