Well, getting real close to a ribbon-cutting ... with an arrow shot from a hunting bow!

Foundation work in progress for the Sheetz site next to the Honda dealership, with the insulation panels (purple) in place on the Zaxby's building. Merchandise stocking in progress in the Lowes store (beyond the Cabela's building).
Since the asphalt hot mix plants usually close due to low temperatures sometime in December, not too sure if both Xaxby's and Sheetz will open before year end.

I've been watching excavators do their thing all during this 'Saga' and then my wife finds this pic somewhere on Facebook ...

Trying something ... may have to edit it a bunch.
Top pic is April, 2013 and the lower was December, 2015 and taken with a 2 generation newer Moto X.
Both are cropped to eliminate excess sky or ground. Recent pic may be zoomed in a little too much, will get a couple more to play with.

Still no word on whether the City will fund the oft-predicted "Falls" waterfall(s?), but I'm continuing to check these two spots as likely candidates:

Today is the third anniversary of this Saga.
Development has slowed greatly - Calhoun's and Smoky Mountain Brewery have decided not to locate in The Falls and the sites they were to occupy remain empty. A recent announcement will see 4 smaller operations built on one of the two presently prepared pads; Buffalo Wild Wings, Sports Clips barber shop, Freddy's Steakburgers and a fingernail salon.
Still no decision by the City on when or if waterfall(s) will happen - likely a money thing.
Lee Highway widening will move into its next phase all the way along the front of The Falls site beginning this summer and the Commonwealth plans to modify the on and off ramps for Exit 5 on the I-81 freeway, but no timing has been announced for that.
I still swing past the area most days but they're just installing some roadway storm drain piping and that's boring.
