Before and After the first shot, but although I hurried, I wasn't able to get into position quickly enough to video the second shot.

The wind that blew the dust away from the shot also brought snow flurries evident in this pic of multiple conduit being laid by crews from the local utility.

There was also a black cable laying on the ground following the path of the power line. Anyone recognize what this is used for, possibly video surveillance?

Late to the party, I know but fwiw that's the cable installed by the local telco or cable company for the "backhaul".  As much as we like to think of our cellphones as being "wireless" they are still 100% dependant on hard wired connections to get the signal into the "network" so you can call aunt helen in California from your cell phone in Maine and that signal goes almost the whole distance on an actual cable.

The last thing said on the CB Monday afternoon was;

"Move the Cat D5 dozer over near Lee highway on the new road up to the Cabela's building and be sure it's fueled up!"

Good thing! After 8 to 10 inches (not feet, thankfully) of snow, someone got the assignment to clear some of the roads around the site, and I was able to make a swing around for some pics. The steelworkers were the only ones in action and I was glad to get back to our warm house early today.

Welp...4th day in a row it's been too cold for the crews to even try to work. Sunday *might* get above freezing but forecast through next Thursday is sub-32F with 20 to 40% chances for snow.

Yuck.

Over a week went by with no activity due to the weather. During that time a decision was made to change the elevation of the short wall going in on the outside of the curve up the hill on Cabela's Drive. This meant that the two manholes (with the orange cones) and the permatile stormwater pipe between them are now a bit exposed!

Three pics, left to right, that permatile line, two drills across Cabela's Drive and excavating more along the edge of the future Calhoun's pad.

Another storm coming through overnight...I'm hoping that most of it passes to the south, but NASCAR at Atlanta won't like that much

Another 6" last night...crew ran a dozer and front bucket loader to clear some roadways but no more activity.

The steel workers are still at it on the building...guess when your welding arc is at 10,000 F it doesn't much matter whether the beams/columns are at  30 F or -30 F!

Two shots today, the first is on the Zaxby's pad and the second is much smaller on the edge of the road after the turn into Calhoun's. It turned out that the second went off without enough notice to shift the camera.

Saturday night and maybe into Sunday will be a major effort installing the water and sanitary sewer lines that will run under Lee Highway to the site. A connector road between the two entrances was built today after the BVU utility Co. did some prep work across the highway during the past 2 weeks.

Lights with generators, pipes and fill are in place and hoping the weather cooperates.

Interesting Saturday night for me...it was time to make the open cut across Lee Highway for installation of water, electric and natural gas utilities which were all across the highway from the project. The new road in the last picture on the last post turned out to be a one-way detour and there were flaggers to make sure the traffic took turns going through.

Next Atmos Energy brought in the gas line that was laid out on the lawn next to Blevins Blvd and arranged it on the left hand shelf in the trench, the BVU did the electrical conduit.

Next it's time to backfill...different sized aggregate to cover the gas line and conduit and then another to top it all off and work it down with a smooth vibrating roller. Steel plates cover the pits on both sides of the highway. A final layer of asphalt will come later.

The crews started at 10 pm and with a "Spring Forward" finished before 7 am Sunday.
