As they clear the material loosened by the last shot, the former 'Cave' is revealed once again. I'm gonna go find an earlier pic that should show how much hill is gone now, but here are a couple pics before that part of the hill is gone forever.
They've also nearly cleared the material from that '30,000 cubic yard' shot and the drills have been busy just above along that wall - from two vantage points.

The shot along the top of this wall will be on Wednesday, they've brought in a third loader to finish clearing the rest of the '30,000 cu yd' material till then. Austin is loading the holes on the eastern slope of the hill for today and the drills are busy for the Thursday shot.
Today we hear and SEE the warning horn! (Sorry about the shaky pan up to the shot!)
Not much difference in the Before and After from this side, but took a couple pics of what it looked like on the other side at the end of the rock wall, too.

Still working at clearing material before the next shot (actually had some sunshine!) The first pic shows big blocks being pulled apart from yesterday's shot.

The shot today was near the end of the hill that used to have the road up to the old tower site. The best angle to take the video was from in front of the Honda shop and nowhere near the freeway, so I didn't have that clue to know when to start the camera. So...I started it 9 other times and stopped and re-started it till the shot went off. It startled me and I flinched (again!).
Before and After from the Honda shop and inside...

The shot today scheduled an hour earlier due to the kinda grim weather forecast and they were planning to send the crew home afterwards.
Before and After pics from the car lot and inside...the crew went back on the hill for a couple hours and the snow arrived about 30 minutes later than forecast.

The snow moved in Wednesday afternoon and it stayed overnight and well into Thursday. The forecast was saying we'd see 6" to 8" and they were spot-on...we got 7".
This morning dozers began working in two areas, pushing material over the edge.

As noted in the voice-over, I thought the shot included the rock wall to the right...oops! (My wife's niece was parked to my right today, first time for her, you might hear her reaction!)
Nice Before pic from inside...too bad I pointed to the wrong side!
A dozer and a loader worked overtime to clear along the rock wall behind where the cave was just to determine if the porous cave rock was all gone...most of it, yeah.

Well, it's Wednesday and I guess for this crew it means "Remove the Hump Day" I watched them take elevation sightings in what will be the parking lot for Cabela's and here came a dozer and loader.

Apparently all my re-chargeable AA batteries are TU, not so strange after 2 or 3 years, I guess. Sooo, the Moto X gets another work out today.
Drills approaching the slanted solid rock strata below where the road used to go up to the old tower. They discovered the rock strata was just too slick for the drills to climb on their own, so two loaders with long cables hooked to the buckets were used to drag the drills up and then reel them out as they finished each hole. Lots of holes toward the end of the day.

Off we go to the car lot and I learn that when you Share to YouTube directly from the Moto X you don't get the off to 'Improve' the video to help on shaky hands.
Before and After from outside and inside the site.

A fresh set of Rechargeable AA batteries prove that the camera is ok, so back using it. After the struggles drilling on the sloped strata Austin Powder was ready by noon today.
A new arrival to the site today - a Cat D6 with towers on each side of the blade atop which are satellite elevation sensors. These are used to produce more precise blade control while grading to final elevation for the Cabela's parking lots.

The primary Blaster was off today and , well, you know...stuff happens!
The connection between one zone and the rest must have come adrift...the driver of the pickup rushing away in the video soon put things in order...more quickly than I was ready, so my view kinda got blocked.
I see plenty of VZW cell towers. Thanks for the play by play though, Tom. Im sure a lot of this is intriguing for everyone. Pretty cool to see it come to completion, and all the work and money that went into making it happen.

Thanks Dalvik_Cache, it's becoming a whole different looking scene than it was last April!
Yesterday was a double success for the project...the lawsuit to prevent the City from borrowing funds for the development that was filed by a local businessman (and I suspect funded by the developer of a competing project) was dismissed by the Judge.
And the Governor of the Commonwealth was successful in sponsoring a bill that was passed Friday which allows sales tax proceeds from the businesses in the project to go directly and promptly to the City rather than be routed to Richmond first and dispersed to the city much later.
