Remember you can't use this utility with the RAZR max hd there's a different utility for that model

I'm thinking I need to do this. My boot loader is unlocked and I have twrp 2525 and would like to go back to stock and start over. Having an issue with 2gig's of internal missing. If I do just step 1 should that be all i need? I'm thinking I should delete all my backups first and after root again?
Yes.
You will need to root again

I downloaded Matt's Utility and followed the procedure he posted in the first part of this thread. However, every time I try to open the "WindowsUtility" batch file and attempt to restore Jelly Bean to rooted Droid Razr M while in AP fastboot, the program makes the computer freeze and I have to manually restart the computer. Any idea what I might be doing wrong or how to fix the problem? Many thanks in advance for your help. I'm kind of new to rooting and such.

First off Thanks for making such an awesome utility. Works great on my Razr M I just got today.
So I am using Linux and had a problem with Option 6 "Unlock Bootloader (Install Motopocalypse App)"
So I looked at the LinuxMacUtility.sh file and here is what I found:
So I just had to change the second 5. Just a heads up for anyone else who runs into this.

Have you checked the system information to verify it hasn't received the latest update?

Couple options reflash twrp and restore root through twrp or use the utility for what ever you want to go back to reroot then install twrp

well im pretty sure if your unlocked you can because thats what gives our phones the ability to downgrade, but if you wanna be safe and wait to restore root and twrp follow these directions

OK,
I used the utility PRIOR to OTA,
I obtained root
I unlocked bootloader
I installed TWRP
I did a nandroid backup
I did a titanium backup
I then accepted the OTA
interestingly it rebooted to TWRP but didn't ask about root
I rebooted
i checked and had lost root, as expected
I tried TWRP- didn't ask to restore root
I reinstalled TWRP via utility
still didn't ask to restore root
reinstalled TWRP (just to be sure)
same result
read a LOT
someone said install stock recovery, then reinstall TWRP to force TWRP to look for Root again
tried that...
now utility will not restore TWRP says success but always boots into stock recovery
so questions are
1. how to restore TWRP
2. how to obtain root opn 4.12 with unlocked bootloader when TWRP not asking automatically as most say it should
thanks

Okay man I got your fix...
I just updated my HD and this worked for me.
Follow the instructions on
WARNING!! That thread is for the HD. DO NOT download the recovery.img. Use the recovery img in your M Utility but use those directions. After installing TWRP reboot. Then go back into fastboot ->Recovery. This should take you to TWRP which looks much different than Moto recovery. Hit reboot -> system and THEN it will say restore root. Slide to restore root and let it reboot.- shane1 likes this
