Does anyone have some advice for issues with the remote storages?  Everything seemed to go smoothly until the part it wanted remote storage and then I kept getting the error on my phone.  "Network Error:  There is a problem with remote host.  Please repair your network connection and try again."

I'm really at a complete loss at what to do, both are on a wireless connection with the same router (which has been reset a few times) and I even went through the entire linux command line process again just to make sure everything was downloaded/typed correctly.  Is there a way to manually transfer all the files in the shared folder and execute the commands without remote storages?

I have same problem. Looking forward throu this thread already few weeks I notice that must be some rule for issues with remote storages.

My razr maxx is on 982.124.14.XT910.Retail.en.EU, and I think that problem exsist becouse of "retail" ver.

But I don't want to change this becouse of possible future limitation from my carrier.

Maybe is another ver of linux solution?

Waithing for yours opinions....

And BMM is discontinued.....whirleyes stopped updating it last I read and suggest using SS anyways. But either way it has nothing to do with root.

Sudo apt-get update

That worked for me, but wait for a second opinion as I'm not really good at this stuff.

Hi. I try to avoid posting on this forum but I'm already desperate.
I bricked my phone 2 weeks ago and since then i have a lot of poblems with him with him. I have read hundreds of posts on the forums and still have not reached a solution. I'm not a developer but i`m a good user of the mobile phones.

Let's start:

After my battery died while trying to reinstall a custom rom and I've made my own microUSB factory cable with a glue gun, operation that took 3 hours, I managed to charge the phone about 5 minutes after which I tripped on the way to bathroom and broke it, and i had to spend another hour to stick it back. :))

I finally succeeded to recharge and was able to install on it with RSD lite version  << 9.8.2O-fastboot-14_S7_USASPDRICS01RTFE1007.0R_USASPDRJBRTFR_P013_A014_p2b_S1FF_fb_CFC.xml 124_SPUEM>> because no other version  would work. I mention that I bought retail phone in Europe (do not know exactly if it is bought in France or elsewhere on the box instructions are written in French). GSM is well understood.
Currently: I have a Motorola RAZR MAXX which is as follows:

No root.

CID can not restore because i think you can`t restore it on a unrooted phone (error says - no access, or something) i`ve tried to restore it with fastboot, cid, and mbm in same folder and with cmd commands.

When i turn on the phone i have to select BP tools that otherwise does not start.

when i connect the phone to my pc the only option to select in notifications is  USB debbuging. Media  or mass storage device option  do not appear, it gives me an error (AT command service stopped), which I guess would be the problem for which I guess it`s wrong because I noticed in a  tutorial that  both options ,media device and USB debugging should be selected .

I managed to install and follow root steps from the tutorial , worked without any error but when I try to start Superuser and install it  tells me <<<(there was an error installing superuser, please send a log of the error.)

I want to root my phone to restore my cid and install a custom root  optimized a little better than the crap that I have now.

Please help me! I hope you like my story :)
Thank you with all my heart!
Sorry for my english, i`ve used google translate.

Jpalves01,

Run "Sudo apt-get update" it should fix the issue and won't hurt anything.

This did not work for me and many others what I finally did was just click on the ubuntu software button on the left side of the desktop menu. Then search for samba, install go back to terminal and again type "sudo apt-get samba" it will tell you it is installed then continue.  After I did this it went smooth.  The reason there are so many network connection errors is because people are using the sudo apt-get samba and then think it is installed when it isn't.  No samba nothing to share so nothing to connect to.

I had the same problem.

Make sure you put a semicolon ";" in the front of every line that you change in the file.

Once I did this the remote storage connected right away.

So as they say, I know just enough to be dangerous with things like this. I had been running a stock ICS and was fairly happy with it. When I updated to JB my Bionic became very sluggish so I was hellbent on rooting and rom'ing to make it run better.

Today I was able to root it. But in my ignorance I installed bootstrap which, apparently, is the wrong thing. Id used bootstrap long ago when rooting so I didnt know that it was bad news.  My phone is now stuck in the encryption boot. Help?? And I have very limited RSD experience, which is what it appears I need to use to recover from my blunder. So please explain in laymans terms.

Much appreciated.

edit - luckily I have my sons old Bionic to use as he just upgraded to the Galaxy Note 2. So Im not stuck without a phone. And no, I dont intend on doing this again with his old one. This phone is still on ICS, fresh install, and is rooted already.

Dang - ninja'd !
No. Root is a separate thing. The Bionic cannot have its bootloader unlocked.

I made the mistake of installing the OTA update....I do not want JB, I want ICS. Even though I can achieve root, that won't matter so long as the boot loader remains locked? There is absolutely no way to return to ICS....with, or without root, right?

Yup.  And the bootloader on the Bionic can *NOT* be unlocked.

Your only option now is to find another Bionic still on ICS or GB. There are lots of them out there. Swappa is a good start.

What is it you don't like? There are launcher options if it is just the look.

Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of JB and I love how smooth it runs on the Bionic. I don't think it can get any better considering how long it took to deliver its potential. However, I am a heavy user of tethering, particularly USB and BT. Seeing as ICS provided both features at no additional charge, and I am grandfathered in on an unlimited plan, I can't justify paying more for something I was already getting for free. My biggest gripe about the lockdown on tethering is the fact that my car utilizes my phones internet connection via BT and/or USB. With this update, all of that functionality I have gotten used to has had a "insert quarter for 10 minutes" sign placed on it.

I know there are ways around this with a computer, but I just don't have the option to load something like PDAnet in my car. They have taken the convenience out of the phone by releasing this update.

Thanks for the tip about Swappa. I am going to check it out.
