I'm not an expert but that second bit seems right to me.

Have you tried rebooting to make sure you don't have root?

I'm thinking you don't have to repeat everything again though I don't think it will hurt. The exploit works or it doesn't. It doesn't screw anything up or brick. It may have worked the first time though your first bit wasnt anything like I remember. Your second seemed right. Perhaps first run put SU on phone but something happened which is now conflicting.
Sorry I'm not much help. I'd wait for someone else to pop in tomorrow.

I had the same problem. I solved it by flashing fresh system partition. You need to download the fastboot files for exact the same firmware as you currently have. See this:

This right here is the correct solution. Flash system then re run the script.

should I uninstall superuser and try again ? or will that screw something up ? this bionic had ever been rooted before running exploit.
Try using House of Bionic. I'm pretty sure the latest version has provisions for doing a "System Only FXZ", and from there you can try the root process again (make sure you have the most recent motoshare/pwn zip)

I don't know what "System Only FXZ" means, but, if you mean just flashing the system.img, then no. Keep Data will flash everything and won't delete the data partition. Certainly an option.

Ahh, that's the ticket. Thought you said you had put in an option to just flash the system.img, but I guess that could be horribly misused if you're coming from 246.

Does anyone have some advice for issues with the remote storages? Everything seemed to go smoothly until the part it wanted remote storage and then I kept getting the error on my phone. "Network Error: There is a problem with remote host. Please repair your network connection and try again."
I'm really at a complete loss at what to do, both are on a wireless connection with the same router (which has been reset a few times) and I even went through the entire linux command line process again just to make sure everything was downloaded/typed correctly. Is there a way to manually transfer all the files in the shared folder and execute the commands without remote storages?

Many thanks. Just a note, if check which location Files mounts the share one. Mine was on /storage/rfs1, so I had to do a little modification of the script.
This was helpful for me as I had the same issue.

I'm pretty sure that the exploit hinges upon this being accessed through the samba/CIFS share, so no.

Would there be an app or other program which could be used instead of the file/remote storages? It rejects the information almost instantly and is very frustrating to manually retype all the information out each time. (really need a bluetooth keyboard) I've tired using both the inet addr and Bcast IP (wireless and lan line); switching the passwords, adding/removing the symbols ( / , . from the ip/shared folder name) and since it has to be on the network it's limited in what really can be changed. Still attempting to look up anything that might help on google.. but so far getting 0 results for something that might be relevant to this issue. It's just frustating to see all the files on the computer, ready to go and not use them because the phone won't communicate with the system.
Going to try this from another computer and see if that does anything... worth a shot I guess since the laptop isn't working for w/e reason.

No. It requires the stock file manager. No way around it.
