Another idea I had for those having problems with using wifi is to try creating a bluetooth PAN between them and seeing if that works. I haven't tested it myself but in theory it's possible. It'd take some work to set it up but one of you adventurous types could always give it a try.

I had the same problem, you have to run the root exploit again, wait for the Bionic to quit vibrating before you hit enter

Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2

Duhast ^^^^ that is for you

Does the SMB/CIFS share need to be via Samba, or can I stick it on a share off a Windows box? I can do Samba, but I'd rather not if I don't have to...

Took the plunge, OTA is installing as we speak. Protected root via Voodoo just in case, but going to give this a go first. Wish me luck...

WooHoo! I lost root after doing a factory data reset after having keep root on the 4.1.2 update. I had to try a couple of times and had to run 'sudo apt-get update' before the Samba install to get it to install. I was using a 12.04.2 desktop ubuntu pendrive install. I wish the screen in the video was more readable, but the video was a lifesaver. Now rooted and using Root Explorer, SQLite (had to re-do the 'entitlement check' for free tethering) Titanium Backup (restoring game data), etc. Thanks to all who have contributed to this accomplishment.

OR, if you have a USB Flash Drive, install it on that, so you don't have to install it on someone else's PC.
I could not get Ubuntu 12.10 to run in a virtual machine on Win 8. It's possible I just didn't givew it enough time though as I heard it take forever and then some to start.

I'm sure this would work great... If only I could get my Bionic to do the wireless connect to my desktop

Rooted! What can I say about Dan that hasn't already been said, other than a thousand thank yous. And thanks to Sam for offering up your Bionic to the root gods to help Dan get this up and running. And thanks to Kaos and Tomsg123 for the vids. And to anyone else I missed who helped make this happen:
YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

This is the proper thing to do for the errors that you were getting.
Have you tried the exploit again? doing the connect to the share again and then run
sudo ./run.sh again and see if you get other errors.
This worked for me. Thanks!!!

This worked for me on my System version 98.72.16.XT912.Verizon.en.US
I had tried RAZR utility for JB XT912 on Windows XP, Win7, Mac OSX and Linux before without any success.
Thanks.

FU Verizon, Ive got so many paid apps that are useless without root, I truly hate you right now. Could someone who managed sucsses post their terminal window so i can compare it to mine. I can run whole process fine except I dont actually get root. when its pushing exploit i get "/system/bin/sh: /storage/rfs0/pwn: not found" also phone never vibrates, if i press return, it cleans up, hit return again reboots phone. On reboot SU wants to update and fails, exactly like duhast89 posted at the top of this page, post # 541. Banging my head so much my keyboard is getting bloody.
