fresh Ubuntu install, didn't add any or configure any.

Honestly not sure then.  Ping it from a terminal on the phone.

But I was only trying Dan's advice. He said that all he had to do was yell at the phone to make it root. I just thought that "rootyoufrigginthing!" would be appropriate.. :)

ROFLMAO!

ROFLMAO!

By the way, he said that yelling was only needed for these newer phone exploits. The earlier ones only needed "a good stern look."

P.S. for anyone thinking I was crazy when mentioning cough drops in my pledge fulfillment post - now you may understand why...

I couldn't get the phone to mount to the shared folder in 12.04 on CD. So I created a bootable USB with 12.10, used a short password, and it worked. Thanks Dan and Sam. Donation sent.

When I get to the part to; Open the "Files" app and select "remote storage". Click "add storage" fill in the necessary fields as stated. I get the following error: "There is a problem in your network connection with remote host. Please repair your network connection and try again."

I'm not sure what I have wrong. Wireless is on, phone not plugged in to pc. Ubuntu box is not wireless but connected to a wireless router, I can ping it from another pc that's wireless.

Any help?

Im going to have to wait till middle of next month, i burned 1.65GB trying to get my usb working...download unbuntu twice kept giving me corrupt file on LiLi till i figured out fat32 doesnt like  64Bit, and im on broad band with a data cap thxs to big red.

I feel so stupid.

Need a copy burned and mailed to you? Let me know. No reason you should have to wait until the middle of next month. I can also send along files to make a live usb if you'd prefer.

To check for a firewall being enabled on ubuntu try this

sudo ufw status

Should come back like this

Status: inactive

If it come back with a Status: active then do

sudo ufw disable

This will shut it off.

OG -> Bionic -> (2013) Moto X DE -> Nexus 6 64gb Running 5.1 via Samuri's HoN

people with the wireless network errors should verify they are indeed connected to there home wireless router.

Verify you are on your home network in system settings / about phone/  status.

verify your IP address for the IP address  above WIFI MAC address is ping able from your linux box.

Hopefully this is not the dreaded wireless router compatibility issue we have heard about for the 4.1.x builds.

Actually how old are your wireless routers? if they are more than 5 years old then this maybe part of this particular problem.

EDIT:

A Good test for network connection is stream some music or a youtube video while pinging your phone from the PC on the network.

Example

ping 192.168.0.2

To stop it use Ctrl c

Would any of this be related to 32 vs. 64 bit issues?
