Count me as one of the Stoopid folks that leaped before he looked and updated after an FXZ back to.246 then ran the update without remembering to re-root before the upgrade. Now paying for his stoopidity with a donation of $20 and a crash course in linux USB boot.

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear. This is designed for an Ubuntu or at least a compatible to Ubuntu distro.
READ AS: Only tested on Ubuntu
Since I'm a Windows person and I'm trying to be ready to jump when the exploit hits, I looked at the LiLi website for Ubuntu distros and see several of them, any recommendations as to which we should grab? Here are the ones listed at LiLi:

Ubuntu Studio 12.10 (DVD)
Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS "Precise Pangolin" (Unity/Gnome)

My only fear is that Moto/VZW releases another update to fix the multitude of issues from this build, and in doing so, closes the hole that djrbliss uses.
While I retained root, he deserves our thanks as a community, and for coming "out of retirement" for us. I am in for ten.

I lost root because of my own ignorance, this is not worth much for the man who is responsible for our happiness but I hope DJRBliss has pity on our pitiful soles. As a student with no job I will pledge $20.00.
where do I send this cash and when, I am new to the bounty thing going on hear. I apologize for that too, I am very slow on the uptake with some of the more socially acceptable ways to show appreciation.
$20.00 Donation sent, thank you very much for your time and help!!

Kaos will update the OP but Dan has a paypal donation link. That's what I always use.

The Original post will most likely be edited for you with a donate link when the "claimant" posts the root info. So just sit tight until it posted.
If you just can't WAIT, lol send your donation to
.
I don't believe it matters. But if you can start a 64 bit, I would just for consistency with the newest stuff.
The included link leads to a 404 error. Just an advisement.

I have the correct link. I will put it in the OP a little later. It becomes problematic if a bunch donate and for whatever reason things don't pan out. Many would donate to Dan regardless, but there are those who might not be too happy in that scenario.

I used the OTA rootkeeper, but ran into problems during the upgraded the caused me to have to do a factory reset/RSD lite restore. Would love to have a method to restore all these currently useless Titanium Backups sitting on my SD Card!

Well I'm not familiar with Ubuntu so im hoping someone will post a link as to which to download at some point? I've read there seems to be a couple different types and no one as mentioned which one to use. I will wait until all is done before i jump again with both feet. MAYBE there will be a one-click method like razrs edge, if not I'll learn how to use Ubuntu.
I will also be in for a min of $10 and probably more

I managed to keep root, but still want to see an exploit developed if, for no other reason, to keep devs interested in this device for a while longer. I will contribute $20 for a way to root 22.
