I recall an unlock bounty for boot loader on xda. Lol, his big did that get? So if Dan releases what he will find, bounty goes to him? He deserves a lot of bounty cash. Without him, we'd be slaves. A God send for us all. Unlocked boot loaders for a lot of happy people. Sam soon to be one of them;-)

There have been bounties for most of the exploits Dan has done. They are given as a donation to Dan directly. He pays it forward as well. He is someone to admire, that is for sure. That said, while Dan is the retired Root God, the bounty is open to anyone who is worthy and provides the exploit. It is meant as a motivator...

I see this as the end of an era for Motorola rooting and modding. At this point, it is significantly more difficult to find vulnerabilities that may be used to root Motorola devices than when I started two years ago, due to fixes for the all the bugs used in previous exploits. It has gotten to the point where there may not be a "next time" for publishing a Motorola root exploit. Of course vulnerabilities still exist, but as the pool of bugs shrinks, the number of people capable of finding them grows smaller and the time investment required increases. As a result, I have no plans to continue publishing Motorola root exploits after this release.

Sigh. I'm about to eat my own words, but sometimes I just can't resist. One of the exploits I've already published leverages a vulnerability that continues to affect this device. I'll release a new version that roots this build (and probably the Jelly Bean build for XT910) in the next few days.

For the record, it still amazes me how many people fail at keeping root access during an OTA update. Please be more careful in the future, because my previous statement still stands: there might not be a "next time".

Thank you.  I know in my case I was a moron and had an experimental version of Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper installed that I was testing.  I forgot I had it installed and updated.  My own stupidity caused my situation and I have no one to blame but myself.  I had no expectation that someone would create a new exploit....only hope.  So I sincerely thank you for this.  The bionic community will owe you a huge debt.  Hopefully this bounty will show our appreciation for what you do.

In the spirit of things and to help boost the donations to djrbliss, I have decided that I am going to incorporate a giveaway into this bounty as well.  All those who follow thru with their pledge within 7 days of an exploit posting, will be entered.  I don't have the item details yet, but I think you guys know, I aim to please :).  I will update the OP once I have more details.

Dan, THANK YOU.  There really are no words that can effectively portray the gratitude involved.  Even those who protect root thru the OTA benefit in knowing that if they botch their root for whatever reason, that there is a way to gain it again when there is a viable exploit.  People can be smart, when they are not stupid, and we all reach the stupid now and then and it only takes once. :)

I have had much practice with this and will likely throw a video together for windows users in a VM environment once there is a working version.

The only reason I would lean toward a bootable USB stick over VM is that I have already (with the other phone that uses this exploit) seen people have problems with the Linux VM seeing their device. But whatever seems easier to the end user I suppose.

In my case I developed the linux House of Bionic in my VM so that's no problem.  :)  But yes, I understand what you're saying.
