Yep that is exactly what I have so I guess fastbooting restores it back correctly.

Baseband version: CDMA_N_04.06.00R LTEDC_U_.07.1F.00
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-g6133522 mqr374@nj05lnxdroid05 #2
build number: 6.5.1-167_DHD-14_M2-5

I don't know the answer to this but I have been on ICS and fastbooted back it seems to work fine. What is your kernal and I can check mine to see if it is the right one but am pretty sure it is.

I'm puzzled about being able to fastboot back to .173 after flashing this. My understanding so far has been that the .fxz fastboot file does not contain a kernel. And I have to assume that the ICS leak contains an updated kernel. So when you fastboot back to .173 is the ICS leak kernel being left behind on the phone?

Weird because I did a Fastboot back to .744 with RSD and both times I did this my phone remained on the ICS kernel. I was never able to get back to the 2.6.35.7-g6133522 mqr374@nj05lnxdroid05 #2. My phone would actually boot up all wacky with Gingerbread GUI but a bunch of ICS stuff still in place. I would do a factory reset in recovery and it would boot up looking like full GB BUT, the kernel would still be 3.0.8-g6f89f34hudsoncm@il93lnxdroid54 #1

I was able to fastboot back and am not stuck on ICS kernel.I used the 173 fastboot that wipes the phone and it got me back to stock .173 no problems.

I had this installed yesterday, data dropped a few times.

Got root back with some help, so then I wanted to play. I installed Safestrap and was trying to have ICS on one side and Axiom on my safe side. Well that didn’t work so I uninstalled Safestrap, and had data issues. I RSD back to .173 GB and still had no data. Only a simm card pull would bring back data.

Now I have data and I’m trying to reinstall ICS.

I tried a clean install of 173 and I can only get ICS to install about half way and then phone boots back into 173.

I’m following the instructions to the letter and tried three times now and can only get ICS to install about half way and then reboots back to 173.

What is hanging me up?

Did you remove safestrap and safestrap recovery before you wiped?

Yes,
I'm using Matt's Windows Ultility to RSD back to a clean 173. Wiping before and after.
then root
voodo, save root
install CW, not recovery
moving two files to cache folder
and trying again

Worked great for me, followed directions one by one. Which launcher do you guys like better, the one this comes with, or the motoblur launcher that some guy has on xda?

Are you navigating back to the /cache folder after copying the 2 files and running it from there?

yes

edit.....install progress is about 75%, I think its going to work this time..........other times it would reboot after 1 min.......

I think having the paid version of CWR installed was messing with me.

edit 2
installed B)

thanks...........

Ok so I have done this 6 times now and have had the same thing every time, I followed every step and on first boot phone goes to android upgrading and stays there just let sit for 8 hours at that screen, if I do a hard reset it boots to word droid in boot animation and stays there I let sit for almost 6 hours. I know my way around android as well as computers have tried on three different computers with matts utility 1.50 as well as 1.51 utillity and RSD 5.6. RSD back to .744 and ota through, no good. .748 ota back no go. .173 still no go any ideas? I have tried multiple times now.

Get to stock .173.

Do nothing but download rom manager and ota voodoo app.

Take the .crc and .zip OTA files and put them in /cache and /root. 2 files in 2 different places, just copy and paste with ES file explorer or root explorer.

Back up your root, go into /cache and launch the zip with rom manager. Then press ok.

Simple.

It was the CWM on phone that was jacking me up as well. Once I deleted lograpper files in system/bin and renamed another, it loaded up with no problem. Did it twice to verify.

After much frustration the past few days waiting for the Soak Test and reading about everyone on ICS I decided to take the plunge. I had an OG Droid and had no reserve in flashing anything and was doing CM nightlies well... nightly.
When I got the Razr in November I decided it was all I needed and would not need to root, etc. I was/am on the Motorola FB network and was waiting diligently for the soak test but curiosity got the best of me tonight.
I was never rooted on the Razr so I used Matts utility and it was really easy... I have followed the instructions provided by Vicious and the update is loading as we speak... looks to be 80% done and I will report back as soon as it boots!

THANKS Vicious!

Is there a donate button somewhere?

UPDATE!!!:

Success on the first round! Finding my way around now... beautiful!

Only problem is Root Keeper did not restore root... I'll run the script as soon as I get done exploring.

Where is that donate link again?

To people RSDing or using Matts utility to go back to .173 and STILL having problems. (And this is by NO WAY a bash to Matt, I've just never used his utility and always used RSDLite) I am going to post my steps, STEP BY STEP the way I did it and was successful.

Not my problem if you break/brick your phone, blah blah blah (But PM me, I'll do my best to help.)

My suggestion is to:

BE having at LEAST 70% Battery and have Moto drivers on your computer (Do a search, this is easy to find)>

Use RSD lite 5.6.4 to go back to .744>

Turn off phone and boot into Android Recovery (power up phone holding Power/Both Volume Buttons)>

Wipe Data/Cache and reboot phone>

Root Phone (I used Doomlord)>

Install Voodoo Root keeper>

in Voodoo Backup SU and Temp unroot>

OTA .748>

OTA .173>

Go into Voo Doo and Restore Root>

Boot into Android Recovery (power up phone holding both volume buttons) and do a FULL data/cache wipe (for good measure)>

Reinstall VooDoo Root Keeper>

Go into Superuser App and ensure the Su Binaries are up to date (Mine weren't, VERY important)>

Install Rom Manager and ES File (And NOTHING ELSE!!!)>

In VooDoo, Protect Root (DO NOT TEMP UNROOT)>

Plug phone into computer>

Move 2 ICS Files to SD card (the one without any CWM or SS back ups on it, the one with all your app folders)>

Open Rom Manager and give it Superuser permission, check the disclaimers box then close ROM Manager>

Go into ES file and make sure you have root access checked and mount /system as writable in ES File settings>

In ES File, Move the 2 ICS files from SD into /Cache>

Click the Zip ICS file>

Select open with Rom manager>

Allow phone to reboot (if you followed directions and have no traces of CWM or SS your phone should boot into Android Recovery>

Install>

After Phone Boots, go into VooDoo Root and hit Restore root>

(Optional) Download Terminal Emulator and run the commands from this thread (

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

) If you find that you don't have root acess. (Voodoo will tell you that you do have root acess. Make sure you reboot after running terminal commands>

Run a root app, such as Root Checker to ensure you do have root.

?????>

Profit!!!

I hope this helps, I tried to make this install list as idiot proof as possible. I had to install this update twice because of a few dumb mistakes that I did. So Good luck.

Why couldn't you just format system then name it update.zip? Just a thought but...I'm sure its not that easy like other older devices..damned RAZR.lol peace!
