For those of you who WERE rooted & protected root with Voodoo, installed the ICS leak & subsequently lost root like I did,

tweeted out some helpful instructions to remedy the issue!

Disclaimers:
I did not personally use this method - before it was available, I had already RSD'd. On my second time through the process, I successfully retained root. Therefore this was unneeded (for ME!) All credit goes to

For those of you who installed the leak and lost root like I did, dhacker tweeted the following:

Download term? I'm sorry but where are we supposed to do this? In a command prompt? In terminal inside of android? A little more would help.

Thanks,

I'll add some more details tomorrow, I'm tired. Calling it a night. In short, those commands in quotes can be be entered into Android Terminal Emulator (free download from the Market).

Thanks Pill. I did it and it took the commands with no error. However no root was restored. I'll check into it when I get to work. I think I may have deleted my backup. Not sure yet.

Def need some more info for the masses, as this is main reason people are trying rsd and start all over, thus incrrasing risk of problems

Yeah I tried running the whole command with no errors and it took it with no errors but nothing happened. It just stayed the same.

So, from what I can tell, it is three separate commands:

/system/su-backup. (This is where mine fails, I get "b469 cannot locate '_mktemp' CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE)

mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/system /system (I get Permission not granted)

cp /system/su-backup /system/bin/su (I get File is reat-only)

no root afterwards, i'm assuming it has to do with the _mktemp error.

Haha! Worked for me!

When I got to "/system/su-backup" I got the same error as you, but then realized I typo'd and put "/system/su_backup"

I'm thinking you may have just made a spelling error like I did.

Thanks, but no luck, I'm finding this error comes from binaries being messed up? Anyway, im thinking about going back to 173 and trying again :( I'll give this until my phone has a full charge...
