Im not understanding what the big deal is maybe its because its new to the maxx. You flash thebrom just like you always did from they OG only difference is mt system.

If I flash the 4.1.2 Kernel, don't I become stock? Based on my System Info here, what are the proper steps for me to get on this ROM?

Read... The answer is just a few posts back... Yes it works with SS as long as you are on stock kernel

I'm really stuck. Tried loading through twrp. Didn't work. Was getting error messages. So loaded CWMR and it would just hang at spinning droid eye. I checked the download and it didn't pass md5. So I re-downloaded the rom and now it passed md5 but I'm still hanging at the droid eye. Was waiting 20 minutes and it was just sitting there. I was on rooted 4.1.2 with unlocked boot loader. 

 

In CWMR I choose:

1) wipe data / factory reset

2) Mount system

3) Install zip from external sd.

4) Choose RageHD2.zip

5) After install completes I reboot. 

 

What am I doing wrong?

Never mind. I ran utility 1.2 reloaded stock image, rooted, reloaded twrp, wiped, mounted system, loaded razrhd2, rebooted and it's fine now.

OK everything is working except WiFi and yes I'm on 4.1.2 kernel. How do I resolve? It just won't turn on.

To clarify, my ROM slot 1 (rage is on 3) was not on 4.1.2 kernel but I just went and activated slot 1, flashed 4.1.2 and reactivated 3 but WiFi still. What next?

It's not Slot 1 that needs the 4.1.2 kernel, it's the STOCK slot. That's why your Wifi isn't working.

OK that makes sense but how can I flash it into stock? Will the file work in stock recovery?

Uhh lol, activate the stock slot, flash the kernel, activate a different slot, flash rom, reboot.

Dont the roms still lag in SS

When activating Stock, you can't flash from SafeStrap, hence my original question... can it be flashed from stock recovery?

Yes. You can. From safestrap.

Maybe in your safestrap, but not in mine - when I activate stock, the install button greys out and cannot be pressed, even after a reboot. I can get into stock recovery though, is there harm flashing from there?

You need 3.12 or 3.11 to flash in SS

I just flashed from stock and it was successful but still no WiFi

You need to unlock your bootloader and flash CWM recovery or TWRP recovery to replace stock recovery first to be able to flash it as your stock ROM

Is there a way to install SuperSU instead of CWM Superuser? On stock I was able to just install from Playstore and it just took over from ChainsDD Superuser. I didn't realize that the Superuser was a different version. Now I'm in the process of wiping. I tried installing in recovery with zip and that didn't work either. Any suggestions?
