Same issue is happening to me. I've made sure I'm on .173, rooted, updated binaries, protected root, es file explorer with root access and system writable enabled, and rom manager installed without clockworkmod installed.
Can't figure this out!

Are you doing a factory reset?

I just did all this a little while ago for about the 5th time lol, just for kicks. I did this WITHOUT doing a factory reset and everything went without a hitch. Let me add though that I am NOT trying to steer people away from the instructions in the OP. I'm just trying to figure out a workaround for people who have tried the instructions in the OP and they still can't figure it out.

I'll try that.
Also, could you tell me what's in the crc file? When I click on the link, it opens another browser window with this in the contents: "2479480314"
So I used "save target as" to save the file onto my desktop.

crc = ciclic redundancy check or something like that. Lol use dropbox or some file transfer to move crc file to phone from computer.

I'm able to get the file onto my phone via usb mass storage transfer.
I copy the 2 files from my external sdcard to the /cache/ folder in the root of my phone.
Then I tap the zip file and choose ROM manager to open it. Then ROM manager says I need to reboot then I hit OK.
It goes to the screen with the green android and there is a white box with an orange arrow and a percentage bar below it.
The bar fills up to about 1/4 of the way and then the box and arrow changes into the triangle with the exclamation point. The bar stops moving for about 30 seconds and my phone reboots back into GB.
I tried redownloading the zip file 4 times already. Soooo I have no clue what else to do. :(

I used Matt's utility to go back to .173
I'll try the rsd lite method and see.
Thanks for the advice!

This is just my advice so take it or leave it but when going completely stock to flash the leak, I would (and did) use RSD. I am not knocking Matts utility by any means because I do use it sometimes. But using RSD and even going back to 744 and updating it's from there will ensure that you are on the right path and good to go without missing anything.

Was asking to see if it was different from GB, and it is. I left the leak because my battery drain was insanely bad on 4G. I might just try going back to ICS to see if a clean start will help.

Your battery drain is horrible using 4G on ICS? My battery was horrible using 4G on GB, but now on ICS it's lasting much, much longer. Even with the MAXX, I wasn't able to go longer than a day while using 4G, if I was just texting and browsing. Thus far, my battery has lasted nearly a day and a half and it still has a half charge. Mind you, this is on light to moderate usage.

On GB, I turned my LTE off because the drain was horrible and only turned it on when I wanted to use it for downloads or hotspot. I may or may not do the same now. Without my LTE on, I was going about 4 days on a single battery.

Yeah I don't know. I installed the ICS leak the first day it was announced. Had it going amazing, like you described, for about a week. Then one morning, I go to work, and 3 hours into the day its down like 40%, no $#!+.

On my weekends at home on wifi, the battery would last like it's supposed to. At work, major drain. I noticed my dBm was really bad while at work, but normal at home. Even after a lot of monitoring with Better Battery Stats and other apps, the only thing I could come up with is bad 4G connection.

What was really weird about the whole thing is that it happened suddenly.

That is really weird. When you reinstall, if it does the same thing (either immediately or after about a week again) - - try changing your network to CDMA only instead of CDMA/LTE. It'll only use a 3G connection, but you can change it when you want to use the 4G. I found that to be a huge help on GB.

If it happens again I'll just revert back to stock GB or a GB based rom until official ICS OTA comes out. Too much hassle for me. I want a phone that works without me having to screw around with it, ya know?

Very much so. I've found though, ICS is much faster than GB was. Very, very smooth. I've found zero bugs thus far. It's a very unexpected surprise.

Same here really no hicups. Very fluid in the window animations and very smooth all around.
