Anyone who does not think that Moto doesn't know about the app and what people continue to do when leaks come out are delusional. They have people watching or just like this day in and day out.
Yea. Cuz Moto doesn't track these forums. Right!!
I stated this in another thread but I'll state it again here. Of course Moto knows that this is how we obtain most of our leaks. However, there is a huge difference between a couple hundred of us in the country pulling updates vs the 20k+ that were instructed to use the app to pull the update directly from moto's servers. Those of us that usually use the app have accepted responsibility that if we pull an update that permanently knocks us off update path due to changes to the bootloader and being unable to return will cause us to buy a new phone. We aren't going to commit fraud and just do an insurance claim. I've already seen it in threads that people that couldn't update properly have exchanged thier phones because they couldn't fix them. Had the app never been provided they would still have a functioning phone and wouldn't have executed a warranty exchange for a device that could have simply been restored via RSD. The few of us that post leaks on a regular basis download these updates and test them to make sure that they're safe for you guys. We test to make sure that you can return to stock via RSD or matt's util before giving them to you.
For example: during the 2.3.5 era of this phone, there was an update via the app that was NOT safe and permanently threw me off update path. Obviously I didn't release this build to you but it did force me to shell out $600 for a new device. It's now a paperweight over there *points.* I absolutely do not want the masses in the community to pull one of these updates. Hence why the app name is jokingly filtered. It's more to prove a point than actually filter the word.
this is the best android yet they really went all out. evwn with the touch of blur its amazing. they should release it for everyone already

It's solid but definitely not complete and without issues. It's not ready for prime time. VZW would never approve a build like this.
will it work for the xt910??
No.

Hey, new to the forum, all though I do watch it fairly often. I got the ICS leak installed no problem, but it was constantly dropping my data signal. Phnone and txts worked, but no 1x/3g/4g. gingerbread does not do this. Ok, to be fair, it has done it on 2 occasions, but in the month I'd have the phone it did it twice. ICS did it about 20 times in 2 hours. Anyone else run into this? Or have a solution? Maybe flash the radio from GB with ICS?
After you installed the leak did you perform a factory reset? Seems to help with the leak...and correct me if i'm wrong, but i think a GB radio is a bit different then an ICS radio and would just cause alot of problems if flashed over the leak. Hopefully the leak will progress into an actual OTA soon and fix some of the issues we're having.

How recently did you flash? Did you reboot yet? When I first flashed, I had that issue, but after a few minutes I rebooted and haven't had that problem since

TiBu will have issues. I highly recommend a factory wipe and not restoring GB data to the ICS system. Many of the databases are incompatible and I promise the high chance that they will cause you issues.
Follow the instructions to the letter. Do not stray from them. If you do stray and have issues all I'm going to do is tell you to wipe and start over following the instructions to the letter.
Be prepared to wipe your system when using this update. When the next leak comes it will not be this build. This build will 98% not make it to soak testing due to its issues (yes, it has a few). If your app has it's own built-in backup/restore feature use that. Apps like TiBu will most likely cause problems as they aren't designed for ICS.

arcanexvi, the Step 1 download links labeled as "this" and "this" seem to be the same file, is this correct?
They're different. Try clicking them ;-)

The 2nd wouldn't download for me either until I right clicked it and selected "save link as". The 2nd link not working simply by clicking it is part of how I thought both files were the same

I just need to find to do a backup of this rom?
Go here and install the ICS Bootstrap Recovery:
Install the recovery by opening the Bootstrap app, click the top button to install recovery.
Click the bottom button to reboot into Recovery.
Once in Recovery, go to "Backup/Restore" and select "Backup."
Bingo, nand backup made.
Now before you can restore that backup, you'll need to use the Root Keeper app to delete the "su-backup" file in /system. (Only if you used the Root Keeper app, to maintain root when upgrading from Gingerbread).

I'm not quite sure why I put detailed instructions in parenthesis when people don't read them...
