I've never downloaded any type of torrent file before so I am a little behind here. Once I download the torrent which is 18kb what do I do with it? I read a few posts up that it needs placed on the phone to continue but where to I place it and how do I procide once it is on the phone? I do not consider myself a noob but I don't have any experience with this type of download.
The file the torrent downloads should be ~400+meg.

Use a program like utorrent on your laptop or home pc..then double click on the 18kb dl..utorrent should open up and start to dl..then move the zip files to the appropriate place to your phone.

1. If the databases aren't compatible then would the official ICS wipe us? I doubt it.
2. By "disabling" safestap/bootstrap do you mean completely uninstalling?
3. Can we install safestrap after installing ICS?

Three questions.
1. If the databases aren't compatible then would the official ICS wipe us? I doubt it.
2. By "disabling" safestap/bootstrap do you mean completely uninstalling?
3. Can we install safestrap after installing ICS?
1) this statement refers to going down from ICS back to GB. It wipes your phone.
2) Yes. You must remove them from your system. Not the apps, but the backround services they provide.
3) It may or may not have issues. We haven't been able to verify yet but you're more than welcome to try.

good point im curious about that tooOK, so from my understanding, we use ROM MANAGER. But since it uses stock recovery can't we just rename files, put them into cache, protect root, temp. unroot, and boot into recovery and apply update from sdcard???? or does ROM MANAGER use a different type of booting into recovery? IDK just my views, lol. I will gladly test out this method when I get my MAXX in the mail tomorrow. Unless it is proven not to work beforehand...

So since i use bootstrap and even though i have a clean stock rooted 173, i still must rsd back again to 173? That will positively get rid of all traces of bootstrap?

So you're saying that wiping is not necessary in order to upgrade to ICS if you're coming from the correct stock firmware?1) this statement refers to going down from ICS back to GB. It wipes your phone.
2) Yes. You must remove them from your system. Not the apps, but the backround services they provide.
3) It may or may not have issues. We haven't been able to verify yet but you're more than welcome to try.

Doesn't sound like you're using a file manager with root access

I'm using ES file explorer and I checked the root button and the system writable button. Exited the program and went back in.
