going back to .173/rooting/install voodoo rootkeeper/install cheesecake/unroot then doing the update
I get the feeling some have said that Matt's app may have issues but no one has actually said they used it successfuly (I think)
thanks

Can someone confirm that the method listed by several users (below) can be done with Matt's DroidUtility?:

Ok. I had the same issue with cheesecake just spinning while communicating with server and I finally figured it out. Using droidutility go back to stock .173. Then after you booted into it create and login with a motocast id. Then root, cheescake, select staging server and update. Is working for me, I am finally downloading the update.
I also had the same issue w/ not being able to login to anything after using cheescake. I RSD'd back to .173 and upon startup created a login with motocast. I then rooted again and cheescaked. I again got stuck waiting for the update and my accounts broke again. Guess its just bad luck for me. Phone is running RSD again.

I just want to toss this in here as I stated before. DR DOES NOT CONDONE THE USE OF ANY FILE THAT WE DO NOT PUT OUT TO YOU GUYS. MESSING WITH CHEESECAKE CAN PERMANENTLY BREAK YOUR PHONE. IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE ANY FILES OTHER THEN WHAT WE POST, YOU ARE TAKING FULL RESPONSIBILITY.
If we're on here we're probably crack flashers and DT, P3, DH, know this...besides its been proven you can fastboot back, i think it's safe to say that this file is safe to screw with....

man been following the thread all afternoon, i'm on stock .173 rooted + safestrap install, i did the cheesecake/swap servers thing, d/led the leak. go to install it, it shows the android guy, installs about half-way. the symbol then turns to the triangle with an exclamation mark, it then reboots and tells me the update failed. any ideas? should i remove safestrap?
Yes, due to the new kernel, safestrap probably will not work.

Way to spend a Saturday...but I finally got it to work. 3 RSD's and 2 Cheesecakes later I'm on ICS WITH ROOT! I used Voodoo and also the permaroot method and confirmed (through Root Explorer) that I still have root access.
What server did you use?

Is this the permaroot method you're talking about?
