Here are the two files you'll need once Cheesecake recognizes you have an update available. Unrar these and then place the two files in your cache directory.

Are you sure both files have to go into cache directory? Shouldn't the zip itself go in the sd-ext and the crc file should go into the cache directory?

You shouldn't have to wait long. If it gets stuck on communicating with server then something is wrong. Try the different servers on the list or even try force closing cheesecake and retrying, even reboot your phone. That's how I was finally able to get it to work.

How do you force close cheesecake? I don't see it in running app and the built-in task manager also does not see it. I think Cheesecake misfired somehow and messed up a DB entry somewhere.

They both go in the /cache directory... You need to use cheesecake to switch servers first, then it should pop up that the update is ready to install

This is what the properties look like for my su file:

Mine are different:

Name: su
Location: /system/bin
Permissions: rwxrwxrwx
Size:
Timestamp: 31 Mar 2012 06:54:00
Owner: root
Group: root
Mime: unknown
MD5: can't calculate (access denied)
Linked to /system/xbin/su

However, I do have the backup SU file on my phone. It's permissions are:

Name: su-backup
Location: /system
Permissions: rwsr-sr-x
Size:21.84k
Timestamp: 31 Mar 2012 07:09:00
Owner: root
Group: root
Mime: unknown
MD5: bunch of letters and numbers

I have both files in the cache directory. Cheesecake is on "staging" --> "master-sdc200.blurdev.com" When I click check for updates the motorola account required pops up. I click setup on that and then it just sits at "communicating with server. please wait" Is there any way to just flash that zip file through recovery like other updates?

Interesting.. your backup and restored version don't match while mine do.. And you don't have root, right?

I didn't temp unroot either.

Correct, Voodoo can access SU, nothing else can though. At this point, I'm just waiting for the battery to charge then I'll do the update again. This time I'll use the "temp unroot" option as well.

Yup, made the same mistake. Got all excited about the ice cream sammy I forgot to unroot... too lazy to do it all again. Hopefully we find an old fashioned root method soon.

Pretty sure that's been tried and failed (i.e. sideloading)

I've read through all of this, and maybe I went too fast, but is this the official final or just a RC?

IMHO, the motorola account required is the kiss of death. I have lost count of how many times I have seen that, and then hang on "communicating with server". There seems to be something not entirely stable with Cheesecake on the Razr.

You will probably just have to re-download it. At least you can actually access the download. What server in staging are you using by any chance?

I think that was it....I Didnt temp unroot either......that seems to be the deciding factor.... well I think we are stuck without root...until a dev chimes in..... I. Trying one last thing...and that's installing the SuperSU app ( not superuser)....I don't know about you guys but the look and feel and performance is great...there is no way I am going to start restoring and trying the to get the leak again for root....I'll sit tight.....:)

Most likely the new soak test coming out...so no we don't know but you can fastboot so if you wish to flash you can go back easily :)

Sadly, if you go down this path you get stuck (permanently) on "Communicating with Servers" for your MotoCast ID and you'll be prevented ever signing in again.

So there ya have it. Fail project for the day. NO ICS for this guy.
