I was able to retain root with OTA root keeper. I made sure my SU backup was indeed on my phone because I managed to delete the SU backup when I did a factory reset after I reverted back to .173. When I went back to restore root, OTA root keeper said my backup was restored even though it didn't restore anything.

I then rooted .173, made a real backup of SU with root keeper, flashed the ICS leak, and restored root once ICS finished loading.

Rebooting now to see if it worked without reverting back to a previous version..

Alrighty.....so I just realized that while voodoo did save a copy and even said it was restored for some reason my binary is messed up and no applications but voodoo can be granted rights...net net I lost root....

Could you jump into Root Explorer and tell me what the properties of your /system/bin/su file says?

Who's the owner and group on it? and what are the permissions?

Exactly..... $#!+..... the forever root method for the bionic I thought needed root to edit system files?

I am going to play around a little more with voodoo..... something doesn't seem right....other than the root issue....I am loving this... my MaxX is flying and battery so far has been insane

so guys i have a question...before you say read ive been reading all 28 pages the entire day...using this cheesecake app is pretty interesting! is there any possibility that there may be another hidden update somewhere on the servers? just wanted a little more info on cheesecake and how to look for stuff.

I know my post count is low but ive been in the android game for a few years now lol, thanks everyone for all the help over the years!

Sorry for flooding the board but I was just snooping around and right in the root of /system is my SU backup from today.....

When I opened up superuser... the logs show voodoo as gaining access.....no failed attempts either for TIbu and toolbox. When I go to update binary...its stating its not found

Chances are there isn't anything else really special. That stuff is behind locked servers.

I don't have much more information to give. If you google for [cheesecake motorola], you may find more information.

I'm sorry but besides trying other servers, there isn't a clear solution for that problem yet. Please wait for the other developers to release a simple update solution. DirtyDroidX mentioned he would have one in an hour but that was five hours ago.
