Are you trying to update it through the same means as the OP from arcane? That won't work.

I think I might need to come up with a nice post detailing exactly what needs to be done..

I guess the question is; those that have succeeded, what method are they using?
I'm no n00b to loading and unloading OS's, but that's the only method I know to get the install to initiate, other than directly from the server.

CRC ?

It is necessary to copy both files to the /cache directory in order to update.

I dont know much about cheesecake, but what if the files that are downloaded to the cache folder are safed and passed to someone and they place the files with root explorer in same cache folder then go back and hit system update will that work? Just wondering.

Hmm those of us using the method in the OP only use the ZIP (as there doesn't appear to be an evident way to download the CRC). Do you think that may be the issue?

I used the cheescake method and pulled the update from the Moto servers. I am not having any issues.(so far)

Yes, this is what people are supposed to be doing. But I believe it alone won't work. Cheesecake is necessary for it to think that an update is available and then once the files are copied, the system should be able to update as usual.

Yes, this is definitely the issue. I tried to document it along the way but most seemed to ignore the mentions of Cheesecake. It is infact an app used to change the update server used by your phone.

Thanks, I asked because OP said to place files on external sd card, not cache folder where ota downloads go. Just curious, lol.

I guess I'm lost on the concept. I have Cheesecake, and have been using it for quite some time. -- I'm trying to see the relevance of the CRC file - it just pops up numbers, but I'm wondering if that's some type of validation. And if so, how I would A) Download it, and B ) implement that in the method listed in the OP.

Right click. Save link file as and move to /cache

Did you just directly install it after pulling the updates? Rooted and all? -- mine failed using that method :=(

Ah, I understand. I'm working on an article now to clear things up.

The CRC file is a checksum file used to verify that the other file is infact the same one as it came from Motorola. This is to ensure that the update won't fail due to download corruption. I'm working on an article now to clear things up.
