Sideload error!!!!!! D: NOOOO

You may have to revert completely to stock by using RSD Lite with the fastboot files like mentioned. If you do this as well as doing a factory data reset, it should work. I used the fastboot files for 6.5.1 with RSD to start from scratch and did the few production updates till I got to .173.

Edit: To go into further detail..

I then rooted the phone and used the Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper to backup my su. Then installed cheesecake and changed the server to I believe to be master-sdc100.blurdev.com. If it seems slow, try some of the others. I posted the video on how to use cheesecake earlier on. Sometime around pages 4 or 5.

Then you try to update it by pressing the Check for Updates button and it should say there's an update.

This is how I got it working for me.

All the updates are labeled as what the update should be installed over, not what version you are updating to. You would know this if you had looked at any of the .17x or .181 update threads the past few weeks.

I would have known this had I looked at the .17x or .181 update threads, had I needed to.

Seeing mixed reviews from people using Voodoo OTA rootkeeper. A method I used back before 2.3.6 was rootable was to go into the app and use the Temp Unroot feature, install the update, and then go back into OTA rootkeeper and restore root. Worked like a charm then, and its what I plan to do when my download is complete. I'll let you know my result.

I wish people would read the ENTIRE THREAD so we don't have to repeat the following

1) The "Sideload" error is an error that's being worked out.
2) You CAN RSD out of this.
3) There's a slight risk of going of the upgrade path, but very unlikely.
4) If you don't know what cheesecaking is, stay away, it's not advisable or safe (hence why it's not widely talked about here).
5) MOST OF THIS IS IN THE OP...

I know we're all eager for ICS - but I'm just trying to avoid repeating myself (or others doing it) over and over and over and over while we work out the kniks.

ALSO it's a NEW, LEAKED OS, so it's going to be bumpy until the experts here figure out the issues. Expect turbulence and keep your trays in the upright position. BUT, please read the entire thread, as your question was probably already addressed.

I just edited my post. I rooted it prior to updating. I used the DooMLoRD v2 zergRush rooting method. I believe I did this prior to updating to .173 because I couldn't remember if it still worked there or not.

Instead of waiting for someone to post a leak or for the OTA you pull the update from MOTO's survers.

Although it is frustrating for me, I keep getting that sideloading error... No idea why lol. Meh, I'm sure a solution will pop up soon.

Voodoo Rootkeeper showed that I had a protected backed up su file, it just wouldn't restore it.. I am doing a fastboot and will try again.

I would highly suggest fastbooting back to 6.11.744 and resetting back to factory settings like I mentioned. Then root your phone and use OTA Rootkeeper to keep a backup. After this, go through the traditional updates till you reach .173. Finally, try the cheesecake method.

Fastboot files can be found here:
