If that doesnt work you can try booting into recovery right after flashing it. After fastboot flash power off then quickly press and hold power+both vol buttons until you get the boot menu. Scroll down to recovery with vol down and select it with vol up. From there you can make a backup and/or reboot into system. This will eliminate having to rename the install-recovery.sh.

Use the new DROID RAZR HD 1.20 Utility to install Recovery (TWRP or CWM) and it will automate the process. Might be worth a shot.
$20 says he doesn't have system mounted as read/write. It'll default to read only and if you try to rename them they'll just revert.

Just wondering if anyone else has had issues with twrp. I flash a lot of ROMs. Sometimes twrp works well. Other times it just robots itself, then everything fails to install or restore. I have to force a reboot to reboot into twrp. Then it will work.

I'm not having those issues, But the time/date seem to be off. Date is off by 5 days. time is off by 30 minutes.
If you find a good place for support for it, post it.
Our devices don't appear to be supported on the TWRP page.

I assume you've tried to re-download and re-flash it? I've been using mine multiple times a day installing various builds of CM/AOKP/Stock and restoring backups and whatnot and haven't ever had an issue other than it defaulting to the wrong folders when i'm restoring backups. Not a big deal as you can just tell it what folder to look in though.

OK tally calm down man I had this happen to me too for some reason every time you flash a new ROM it creates a new folder called 0 in that folder will be all your new backups under twrp/ backups so to get your recovery to see your old backups you move them all from mnt/storage/twrp/backups to mnt/storage/0/twrp/backups/ . It would be helpful if someone chimed in to why this happens and how to get my backups stored in my sdcard instead of internal storage trying to move files around with that buggy rear end pacman ROM was a nightmare half way thru the process of transferring files my soft keys hauled rear end somewhere ! Which made the task even more snafu!

When I try to either rename or delete the install-recovery.sh file, it says that I cannot rename/delete; thus I cannot install twrp to my phone.

I successfully unlocked my bootloader and rooted OTA 9.18.79 with the kind help of forum contributors. I would also like to install twrp and have the following questions:
1. Is there a working and tested twrp 2.6 release for the Maxx HD?
2. Why isn't the Maxx HD listed as a supported device on the official twrp site?
3. Can the Motorola stock recovery image be flashed back to the device (without wiping system/data) to facilitate future OTA updates?
Thanks!

Thanks, after some more digging I found a link to the 2.6 vanquish version of twrp. I wasn't sure if posting the external link is prohibited here. There doesn't seem to be much feedback on it yet except for some users experiencing permission issues with the files that are generated from a backup operation.
Where can I find the stock recovery image and would it be specific to the 9.18.79 build? I ask because Matt warns against using his
after the latest OTA and I presume that would also apply to the stock recovery functionality.
Apologies if any of my inquiries have already been addressed elsewhere but I couldn't find the answers I am seeking.

1a) Delete or rename install-recovery.sh found in the system/etc folder (Some people have encountered an issue where they can't boot into recovery. I haven't encountered the issue but this resolves it.)
How do I do this? Connected to the PC (rooted/BL unlocked), there is no system/etc folder.

I don't mean to thread-jack. But I wrote up something just like this a while back. With all due respect to you, Arcane, please no offense. If anyone needs a few more specifics about removing some of the recovery over-write files, etc.
, if anyone can find any answers to their questions that they may not have found here? Just trying to help
