Need to unroot you android device but are unsure how? Well Droidrzr.com Admin mattlgroff made it easy for us with his Universal unroot app. This app will save time and effort as it not only removes root from any device, it also removes and backups of root that may be hidden somewhere. This is handy if you have to return your device or if you are selling it to someone that prefers it not be rooted. Here is mattlgroff's description of the app.

Universal Unroot will Unroot ANY Android powered device that is already Rooted and has a form a Superuser installed. Simply hit the 'UNROOT' button and allow Root Access when asked to give it permission. The device will then reboot and you will be completely Unrooted when you boot back up.

This is a great app for those who are trying to complete a warranty return with a carrier for a defective device hardware or a repair. If you only want to temporarily lose Root Access, this app is not for you. Running this an Unrooting is permanently and cannot be undone with this app. Only use this if you truly want to lose Root Access.

Support for x86, ARM, and MIPS devices.
Support for ChainsDD Superuser, Chainfire SuperSu, and Koush Superuser.

Check it out on the play store here:

And be sure to thank mattlgroff for all his hard work!

I'll have to look into what HideMyRoot uses. This app of mine also removes all VooDoo root backups :)

HideMyRoot is now supported for backup removal. It's in the Play Store whenever they decide to update it to version 1.01

As long as you are rooted you can use this to unroot.

Here is the story.  I was on rooted stock ICS. I backed up ROOT with Voodoo. I Removed Safestrap. I took the JB OTA. Rerooted with Voodoo. I Seemed to have root after that. Root Explorer asked for root privileges, no problem. Titanium Backup did not see root. I seemed to have lost complete root after that. Last night DRJBLISS ( kudoos to SamuriHL) had worked out an exploit. I used that exploit to gain root again. Everything was working great. The only problem that I had then was there was Superuser from ChainsDD (my original from last years root after the ICS upgrade and Koush's Superuser from last nights rooting. I wanted to remove ChainsDD Superuser, to clean up my junk a little bit, so I thought that I would unroot everything and then use DRJBLISS' root method to reroot. I tired to remove ChainsDD SU from /system/app through system app but got an error saying it couldn't find the app. I downloaded your Universal Unroot app and tried to unroot. It removed the su binary but the ChainDD SU is still there. I'll keep working on it. I'll probably have to wait for an FXB of Jelly Bean and flash to get it where I want it. Thanks for getting back to me promptly, I really appreciate it.

The last post in this thread prior to yours was 30 months ago.  Unrooting can be done in a few ways and depending on your reason for unrooting, will depend on which you use.  You can simply go into the SuperSU app and click the full unroot option, you can do a complete flash of your device or simply your system partition.....
