I just received a new RAZR M from Verizon today. It has on it 98.16.3.XT907.Verison.en.US but it wants to install the 98.30.1 update. It apparently has skipped over the 98.18.78 update. The exploit on this thread using Motochopper v1.0 does not work for me. After copying files over it gives me this Failure message.
I have the latest Motorola drivers and it is in debug mode. Is there an exploit specifically for the 98.16.3.XT907.Verison.en.US version? I don't want to let it update to 98.30.1, I think I could never get it rooted then.

First of all you are posting in the HD section.
Second you want
Third Make sure you do this before taking the new update and maybe not even take the update as we are not sure what the heck it is going to do to root. We believe it kills root and there is no new method currently

Thank you very much. That worked. I had searched for quite a while and couldn't find the right exploit. I asked in this forum because djrbliss's first post said "This exploit will root the Razr HD, Razr Maxx HD, Atrix HD, Photon Q, and Razr M, regardless of what build they're running." It was the closest I could find.Thank you, Memnoch73, for the correct link.
Glad to hear you got it going man..

Please see my post above for the M version of Root. Also adb not recognized usually means you are running the bat file from within the zip file. It needs to be fully extracted

I have a question: I am just curious if the HD comes with an unlockable bootloader out of the box provided I don't accept/install any updates that come? Or has Motorola started shipping these devices with the latest firmware already on board? Has anyone out there received a replacement phone post July-ish?? I'm just curious because sometimes I can convince Verizon and/or Motorola to send me a replacement phone.

It's not going to. Per your other thread, you are on .94, which is the most recent update. There is no exploit for .94 yet. If your bootloader is unlocked, you can flash the SU zip and gain root.
