Hey, Kimo, did you download the motochopper.zip in the OP or did you go to the RAZR HD link that is right above it?

In post #4, (doesn't display posts 1-3 using tapatalk), I scrolled to the bottom and clicked on the Maxx HD link which sent me to another thread pictured here:

That explains it. You actually used the updated motochopper that was modified to work on the new update.

Right, good.  Mystery solved.  :)  And again, I apologize if it seemed like I wasn't believing you.  I just wanted to understand, that's all.

I humbly apologize too to y'all, just been testy lately with people appearing like they're being called out like I thought today. Now for another question, since it is official that I did receive the update before I actually received my phone from FedEx, is there a way to unlock the boot loader?

Nope, you are stuck.  Unless there is a miracle out there, chances are slim to none at this point.

No, sadly Dan took a glance at it shortly after the update came out and didn't see any vulnerabilities that would allow an unlock.  Those on the update are pretty much stuck permanently I'm afraid.

Herein lies your problem - Your device is a Razr or Razr Maxx- you will need to use Matt's utility or Razr Blade for the XT912.

Since you said you tried RazrBlade first and got these errors, you will need to use Matts All in one utility to reset back to default, reroot, and add Safestrap if thats your desire.

Linke here if you didnt have it already:

The HD on the camera lens area only refers to the camera.

Just a fair warning because that question made me think of eBay.  There are a lot of sellers that misrepresent the Razr as an HD.  You have to look at the model # XT9??  If it doesn't specify XT926 or XT925 it is NOT an HD.

Thank you for your effort.  This root worked perfect,  I could not agree more with your analysis of Android/Google policies and you are most correct when our wallet must be our voice on these issues.

Hello there root gods :).

I'm having trouble rooting my phone.

The motochopper tool seems to be working for many devices other than Motorola. And so it has proven to successfully root the LG Optimus F-series phones(

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

).

Most people report to have it working flawlessly with LG Optimus F5

Yet, for some reason it keeps failing on my F5.

  • Device drivers are installed,
  • USB debugging is enabled on the phone,
  • tried on both Linux and Windows platforms,
  • adb devices command outputs the device name and serial number.

So everything seems to be fine, but upon running run.bat / run.sh, I get:

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

Of course, i tried it many times, including resetting the device to factory defaults right before rooting.

I even tried running the commands one by one instead of a batch script -

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

- and it always seems to fail on:

adb shell /data/local/tmp/pwn

With the output being:

I

, so I'm trying my luck here.

Is there anything root gurus can think of, that prevents my F5 from exploiting root access? Maybe something with the pwn binary?

I'll be thankful for any help received. Rooting an android phone makes it just so much more usable...
